Ah, I see, I'm bold now. But I'd willing trade in the bold for a different non-bold colour or some kind of "I support DP" or "Premium" icon.
I've been debating about this. I love the fact that they would stay on top for a couple of hours. That's a great idea.
Hi Shawn, I always support DP and hence I immediately join the Premium member without second thought. I would like to share some thoughts on this: 1. Since people pay to become a premium member (rather than a donation), they will expect a higher quality of service at DP. I hope you will make good use of the revenue generated to improve the overall quality (I admit that there are still grounds for improvement at DP). These may include less database problem which people can't access DP forum, better moderation, improved security measures, more promotion of DP forum to recruit more members etc. 2. This premium membership is good in general and is a big change to DP. Just like all the changes made to DP, they should be well-discussed (maybe with all of us or among moderators only) and well-prepared before they are put into action. I am glad that you have included some bonus features to premium membership, but I do think that they aren't prepared well. Take the color of sticky thread in BST as example, it should be well-tuned and think twice before it comes to action. It looks a bit unprofessional for the color to be changed after receiving complaints from DP members (and yet the discussion of color is still going on). I think a consultation from DP members for new proposed features would be good next time, before they are implemented. 3. I am a bit worried that if there are too many premium members in future, and there will be quite a lot of sticky posts in the BST forums which push the newly-started post from normal member to P.2 or even P.3. In that case, all premium members looks like "normal members", while the real normal members will become like guests. So I suggest to put a cap on the maximum number of premium members, if there are too many of them. Otherwise, the forum will become a mess. 4. For the private premium forum, it just looks like a chat room to me. What do I expect to learn or gain from it, if it is a specified bonus for premium membership? 5. I think cutting the normal features of a normal member to make it looks like a bonus for premium members are not too good. The number of signatures allowed is one example. At least, you should give us time to save back the signature links (I have lost the 2 last signature links). Again, prior notice and consultation would be great. (Maybe there are, but I didn't notice that). Thanks and have a nice day to you.
Well there really hasn't been any DB problems since some changes were made a few months ago (unless you are seeing otherwise?) Better moderation, how so? We are picking up TONS of spam/crap/duplicate account before they even have the opportunity to post their first post. And moderators are doing a pretty good job keeping up with the reported posts. Security measures? There has never been any security issues here... EVER. The only thing you could argue as a security issue is people getting their accounts "hacked", but in reality they are just using the same login/password here as they are on other sites and then people find out their info from those sites. But I'm certainly willing to listen to what the insecure parts of the site are. It's really just evolution... in the beginning there really wasn't any plans at all to highlight B/S/T threads beyond making their stick at the top. But it was a good idea and we listened. Yeah, although we can deal with that problem if it ever happens. To be honest, I don't expect every member (or even 10% of the members) to purchase premium memberships. There really isn't anything specific that is going to be guaranteed in the private forum. I'll (personally) post coding stuff that I wouldn't have posted otherwise in there, but it's really up to premium users as to what they want to do with it.
Of course you can. The subscriptions are handled by PayPal itself, so you can cancel the subscription from within your PayPal account. You will also receive an email notification from the forum 2 days before any subscriptions are expiring to remind you that you can cancel it within PayPal if you wish or else it would auto-renew.
Just consider that this has only been "premium" for two days, and there are plenty of improvements and upgrades being considered. Your feedback is appreciated. If you think there's something that the forum could use and the (premium) members could benefit from, speak up. Note: this is not a sales pitch, as I'm not a commissioned moderator.
ok - Ive signed up for 12 months... how/where do I actually change my stuff like the description? ps. a new post just made in BST wasnt highlighted, but I guess thats just waiting on a cron update or something..
1. Find the Premium Forums Here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=127 2. PM storage would have already been increased. 3. You can have 4 signature links 4. Customize user profile here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/profile.php?do=customize 5. You need to use the WTS prefix while creating threads to get the BST advantages. 6. Edit User title here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/profile.php?do=editoptions 7. There's No Cron Job 8. You're Welcome
thanks for all your help, had worked some of it out, but having it written is nice, I guess it should be on the subscription page. I recommend we change it to include WTB as well - I dont really sell much here, but I buy an absolute shedload..
