How big is your list?

I know we have Internet Marketers here at many different levels of experience from beginners to expert marketers. I am very interested in how big a list should be to profitable for yourself.

I recently started building my first list and grew by about 100 in a month.

Now, I want some honest answers from you - How many people do you have in your list/s in total?

    Hi There bertuseng, :)

I have a list of 1,548 but in my opinion, is not about the size of your list! it's about where are you Marketing or what Marketing Methods are you using to advertise your services. I made about 1,900 in September Marketing this new MLM System called The Streamline Funnel effectively! not counting my other Products. I believe with the right technics you can Sell anything Online and make a profit really man. I have an eBook on Marketing Methods that I use effectively and it's only about 15 total pages on Methods, if you are interested feel free to Downloaded on the Link below on my Signature ok? please let me know if it helped bertuseng.

Is not the size that matters but the quality of the list and your marketing skills. If someone has a huge list of freebie seekers who will never buy anything from him, does the size matter? If another one has a huge list of throw away email addresses, does the size matter? And so on ...

Thanks for all the input. So when will I know more about the quality of my email list? I grow my list by giving away free courses (in my sig), so will this list of mine be rubbish?

I agree. To me it's about the Quality. My largest list is about 5,000 people. But this list is not totally responsive, if I send out an offer less then $20 , MAYBE 1% of the people will buy.

Where as I have a few extremely targeted lists (100-1000ppl) and whenever I send out offers I know I can count on a 3-5% buy rate at any price range.

The quality of the list is important. If you build you list and always give them free information (like I did with the first list I ever built) then you will end up with people who will only want free information and won't want to pay more then $1 for your stuff.

I have multiple lists, but my biggest one is 3,000 strong and gaining new subscribers every day. I wish I had more time to write newsletters...

Offering an incentive is the easiest way to build a list. In the same time, is the easiest way to get worthless freebie seekers on your list, who subscribe only to get the incentive and never ever read any of your emails.

For the reason above I never offered incentives. People subscribe to my newsletters for other reasons ;) (like learning from my experience & reading my articles).

If you follow my path, the lists won't grow fast, but you have more chances to get readers, not email addresses no one opens.

By giving away something to your Visitors like you are doing, I believe is one of the best ways to build a relationship with your list which is extremely important bertuseng. The reason is that people get to know you on the personal side, so when you have a good Product to offer them they are most likely to at least take a look at it and consider what you are selling, instead of just trying to shove a Product in their face like some people do. By best Marketing Method is: Help people, Mentor people and give them Free knowledge! and the Product will Sell itself. As you can see I also give away a Free Marketing Methods eBook on my Signature as well. ;)

I give alot away to my visitors sometimes even out of my own pocket but i have a list of 7,435 across 22 websites at the moment, if you keep building a good relationship with them (by not always sending them products or links) you'l get more products bought when you do send them a markerting email! that's how i found out to work my list the best ;) happy list building

    The Size does not Matter,
    The Quality of List Matters...

I can make 2000 sales with my 3000 People's Email List,
some people cannot even make 200 sales with that List.

It is the combination of Right Product + Right Marketing + Delivery

About 500,000 on a list that has gone stale, it sat dormant for almost a year before we realized it was left to collect dust. It's a dead list though, out of 500k sends, maybe 200 people will open the email. So we just send a blast out to it every 2-3 months asking people to join our new list.

The new list has about 32,000 double opt-in subscribers right now. About 80% of that came from signups on website forms, the rest came from emailing the stale list mentioned above.

My wife says it's pretty big, but sometimes I think she is just trying to make me feel good about myself.

In all seriousness, I don't use a list, primarily due to the fact that I don't feel like I have a business model that supports a list. Granted, I have a couple of sites that could probably use it.

very true, for example if you sell articles online, and if people in your list are your die hard fans, you can make 2000 sales (if you can write 2000 articles) out of 2000 people from your list.

Treat your online business to be a real business + good quality product = good result :)
