Big drop on google traffic !!!! from 22k visits to 7000 !!!!!

It may mainly google's problem, but you should find out your own reasons, too.

 

Actually, it may be comforting to know it's happening to an aweful lot of websites. Well, slightly comforting ... this could be due to one of three things ... a huge penalty from google, or an algorithm change that permanently changes how google rates the content, or lastly ... a hickup that's happening as google recalculates pagerank and backlinks.

If it's a hickup that's comforting knowing things will be back to normal soon. If it's an algorithm change that will permanently hurt the site's seo traffic ... bleh.

 

That really is a major drop, but still massively larger traffic than i get.

 

One of my sites experienced a similar major drop. I think it has to do with the google caffeine update. Sucks, but I think it's a new algorithm. Meh.

 

Without knowing your site url or anything about it, if I had to guess I would say that you lost a major traffic referrer...this could be a keyword or website that was funneling alot of traffic to your site.

Only you know based on reports that you run weekly to monthly (you do run ranking reports correct?) where you stand on certain keywords and if you're linking partners are still linking to you. Did you receive a major write-up on any blogs that may have been recently archived?

I've had a few "google slaps" like that over the last few years. ONE time i think it was due to a site-wide change i had made weeks before.. The other two I never knew the cause. Each time i recovered to normal within a week or two.. one time traffic was better after recovery than it was before..

 

I have a big drop on " Pages crawled per day" and " Kilobytes downloaded per day" (in google webmater tool)

 

Maybe it was http://www.maxifurniture.net/ that is in your sig, as it's crashing down when I try to load it, that could of happened on that day as well??

 

This happened to me too some time ago, my google rankings dropped down but it was back in few days, so if your traffic is organic then the problem should be this.
