In my opinion, there shouldn't be any 1 month or 3 month subscriptions. If you can't afford $75, then you shouldn't be even posting on this thread. DigitalPoint is a forum where people people TAKE ACTION and make money, not make 100 useless posts, then ask for review copies of every single ebook. The whole reason you have a paid membership, like Shawn said is to weed the retards out. However, I do think $75 is a little steep for what you get. If there is good content in the private forums, then it will be worth it but I'm not sure if it's worth it atm. Just my 2¢
You talk all this and give only 2 cents in the end. The membership will be nice and useful. But we will wait for sometime to know how it goes. A week would suffice.
Hey Shawn how long does it take till its effective? I paid prob 20 mins ago and still haven't noticed any change to anything?
Yea its been almost a hour and half now and still nothing I have already Pm'd Shawn so hopefully when he gets on sometime today he will take a look at it...
Can I get a review copy? Just kidding... and happy to see this happening. This forum gets better and better, especially after you learn the rules...
Yeah shawn, 1. You can make the BST posts sticky for 4 hours at any time they wish. 2. You can provide a badge for all premium members. 3. You can make members who are active and providing worthy things for DP as premium members. [As a reward] 4. No cheap members and worthless members who ask for reviews at all. 5. Limit no. of posts of Premium members at BST to 2 or 3 per day. Coz a single can post 4 times and make it sticky for 16 hours 6. Make some new things to premium members and provide something special. Like how warrior do in War Room. I would suggest opening a separate BST for premium members and make the pay lesser in order to have worthy clients and sellers in it. Like Charge all member. Not in premium member, but make another grade in membership. Thank you.
Yea make a special forum for premium members to sell thier products here only premium users can start threads no 1 else others can reply
^^ Something like DP special offers Also how about allowing premium members to have more links in signature and not include BBcode in the 350 character limit.
No way, the better solution to this is to provide a search function (optional, of course) to only return threads created by premium users. Or even provide a thread display option for it where we'll only be able to see premium threads made in the Marketplace. We could modify it to what suits our needs best in our UserCP. This would save everyone so much trouble! This would really work you know, and it's convenient to all the members. Users (premium & not) won't have to dig through crap, and at the same time, premium users basically get what they want, buyers & more visibility. I wouldn't even consider an exclusive/private BST as I do not see the point in having double forums. (Besides, wouldn't you run out of consumers in a forum visible only to business people who are making a profit from DP by selling as well?)
I know I PMed you, but just FYI for other people. Activation is instant unless payments that aren't approved by PayPal for a certain amount of time. PayPal does the upgrade on their end (it's instant the second PayPal does it). Your payment was an eCheck that PayPal doesn't consider valid for 4 days. Once PayPal considers it valid, PayPal should do the notification to our servers and your subscription would start from that date/time. What sort of "badge"? True, but the same rules apply to premium members about duplicate threads, so... You realize that *all* the benefits of premium membership is already something special compared to normal users, right? That being said... yes. There probably will be additional premium member benefits down the road as stuff becomes available. I doubt that will happen to be honest... splitting up B/S/T is kind of counter productive... then you have to search 2 places for one thing (a site for example). I think it was a better route to give premium members better things within the normal forums (the sticky threads) vs. give them nothing there and just let them have their own/separate marketplace. Ah, so you want premium members to have bigger and more spammy signatures? Sounds lovely. {rolls eyes} Not sure I really *want* premium members who don't even have a credit card to be honest... Currently yes, but it's already one of the things I'm planning on changing... just didn't have time to get that added to the intitial roll out.
Thanks for Checking. I was afraid I sent sent a E-Check accident since I just switched Credit cards on my account due to some 'Problems' with my other card. Well I guess I have to sit around wait till the 15th or so until it goes through.
The signature doesn't have to be big, only more formatting options available, by including BBcode in character count we can't even fill up the 3 available lines. And since the staff encourages users to use signature links to bring attention to their threads, I don't think allowing more links to *premium* users counts as "spammy"...... Having a CC and having one on PP are two different things. I would *never* put a valid CC on my paypal and I am sure thousands of other users would share my skepticism. There are too many risks involved, identity theft, hacked PP account etc........ And BTW, payments via PP balance are safer than ones from CC. (Read: No Chargebacks)
Oh, I should also point out, that it's not a 100% thing. There are some interesting things that would need to be worked out. For example, if someone lost their premium membership for a day or something, all their PMs beyond 90 days would still be wiped out because the process that flushes them would see them as a normal user at that particular point in time. Also, the change to the SQL query that would be needed to check for subscriptions is really nasty, so not sure how to work around that yet. It does seem stupid PayPal doesn't let people pay a subscription with their normal PayPal balance. But really it's up to them I guess...
Actually the real reason is that if people don't have funds in their accounts when the next payment becomes due, PP can charge their CC rather than allow them to default. Its up to you too, just create an option of making it recurring or non-recurring before forwarding user to PayPal....
