There is now a premium membership available (completely optional of course) that gives you some extras...

    • Access to private forum for premium users
    • Private message box will hold up to 5,000 messages and don't auto-delete until after 180 days (1,000 messages and 90 days is default)
    • Ability to change user title (regardless if you change it [or even if you don't]), your user title will be bold
    • You can customize your profile (see my profile for an example)
    • Threads you start in Buy/Sell/Trade will be sticky for the first 2 hours (stay at the top) as well as become sticky again for the last 2 hours of your sale.
    • Threads in Buy/Sell/Trade are highlighted
    • Keyword Tracker users get additional functionality
    • You get 4 links in your signature (2 is default)
    • Mediation of "bad deals" within Buy/Sell/Trade
    • Ads are removed from within your posts (in cases where there would be one)
    • Ability to make private bids on auctions

Probably some other stuff down the road, but that's what it does for now.

OMG ... !! One of the much needed change. Fantastic work. I am sure many users will avail this premium membership.
I have a query, lets say 25 premium users make a thread on a certain BST section within a span of 2 hours. What will be the thread display option under such a scenario.

    Best Regards,
    MM

I also have a question, what would happen if we don't set a "end sale" time on our BST thread, would it just not be sticky for the last 2 hours, due to it not having any or can we set it like that?

Right, if you don't set an end time, it won't stick at the end of the sale (since the system doesn't know when the end is).

Also the non-premium user may have their new thread on the second page right from the beginning ?

If there are a ton of premium members making WTS threads all at once, all in the same area, yes. I forgot the forum is set to default to 30 threads per page... I set my account to 100 per page... maybe time for a change to the default imo.

Edit: upped to 50 by default

Fabulous stuff..This would cut down the amount of fraud threads to a large extent. Will there be some sort of of a special notification of the profile suggesting that it belongs to a premium user like the phone mark below the reputation blocks indicate phone verification.?

Right now premium users can be seen by their user title being bold. That will probably change... maybe username bold, maybe an icon next to the phone thing. Haven't really given that much thought yet because I'm really tired at the moment. :)

A bold username would be much better. It gives that person more presence.

What about 1 allotted bump? This should make you more revenue since there are a ton of people who would pay to do just that alone.

What's the point of 1 allotted bump? Premium users kinda get automatic bumps (actually stickies to be more precise which is even better) for 4 hours on EVERY thread they make within Buy/Sell/Trade.

To be honest, I'm not sure why people aren't talking about that aspect of it... that has more value than anything else imo. :)

Hell no. :) Don't want to turn this into some site that looks like it was designed by a 6 year old. :)

Go to your User CP > Miscellaneous > Paid Subscriptions
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/payments.php

    It's $75.00 for 6 months or $125.00 for a year.

I just went through a couple of BST sub-section. I can see threads started 48 hours back are still on page 1.
So a premium user will hold a position of 1-2 or 5 for 2hours and non-premium user will hold a position of 15-20 or even 30.

Honestly I am not sure if there is a huge difference if you are on position 2 or 20 on the first page.

Maybe we can have something more than 2 hours for threads which does not have a auto-close feature.

Has nothing to do with the auto-closing, just when the thread creator specifies the number of days to run their sale. But yeah... might be an interesting idea to treat the threads a little differently if the creator isn't ending it. Not sure exactly what though... A simple sticking for 4 hours on the front end and 0 on the backend might not be a good idea. Would end up with people being annoying and just intentionally not ending their sales so they can get the 4 hours front-loaded and just creating duplicate threads later... more to clean up for mods imo.
