Does anyone know where I can find a list of what CMS some of the larger news sites are using? (Those who are using a publically available CMS).
I dont think if any large news site might be using a public available cms, all are customized to there needs
I'm not necessarily talking about free ones. There are a lot of solutions out there that cost 100's of thousands of dollars. For costs that high some big sites have to be using them
I'm guessing that the vast majority are custom built, I doubt any of the big guys use an off the shelf solution.
I know these aren't huge online magazines like AskMen or anything, but Mudsugar and Split Magazine are really nice ones using Wordpress.
Those are some cool looking sites to be built on Wordpress. Not really for my needs but nice none the less.
These are the ones that I am aware of, of course there are plenty more out there. http://www.solucija.com - sNews - Free (I am using it) http://www.interspire.com/articlelive/ - articlelive - $239.00 US http://www.phpcow.com/ - phpCow - price starts at $445.00 US
I own a phpcow liscense and I must say it is great software once setup. Although getting the site to function the way you want it to can be very confusing. A little pricey, but if your worried about that I suggest you lease the hosted option for a monthly fee and see if you like it first..
I know one of the content networks I'm still with uses cmsms. That's how I was exposed to it, and now I'm building and transferring all of my sites to it.
wow, that's a nice one. I think most big big sites have custom CMS, but I will try the ones listed above. Thanks.
Almost all of them have sef urls... if you are looking for a free one then try snews.. it comes with a creative commons license, comes with flat file & mysql versions & is a single file CMS. Skinning it is a breeze.. ps: there are many free skins out there for this script. The developers site is running on snews itself so you can get a demo there.
just created trial cmstom.phpcowtrial.com first impression - trial was created in 2 min really as they promise got activation email with link to download templates... will test further and keep posting. thanks guys for reviewing cms systems. what about free cms systems like cutephp, mambo
