Find a blog in your niche, help the author promote some links on social media or even you link to his content first, then politely email him lol

Here are some things that make a good link:
make sure the directory or website has a high PR
make sure the directory or website has the same or very similar niche (ex if your a web host, find a web hosting directory)
make sure the link isn't a nofollow
and finally make sure the website isn't banned on Google (a quick Google search for the domain will give you that info).

Link wheels generally don't work, because the sites that comprise the wheel are usually unrelated, and have no pr value.

You want links on quality, related sites with good PR. If you build your link wheel from that then it will work well. Otherwise, it's not worth the time.

Do you have any idea how EASY it is to manipulate a bad (or fake) directory to make it meet your criteria?

Interesting post: The signature says "SEO chennai". So, is this some kind of trick question or just a new scheme to do self advertising? Or maybe somebody else pays for the signature???

Getting a relevant link to your site is easy. You will have to contact the site owner and let him know that you're interested to do link exchange.

Make sure you have several other sites that are created solely for the purpose of putting up their links so that you can let them know that you're doing 3 way link exchange.

Quality deals with relevancy. Get back links on relevant and DoFollow sites. Google gives more value on those kinds of back links.

This is the way to go on quality backlinks. RELEVANCE is the main factor in choosing an anchor text to your site's backlink.

If you need one way back links then you must use Articles Option. Write original content about your topic and submit it to Article site. It will give you option of one way link associated with author name.

Just because a page has a high PR doesn't mean it's a good page to get a link from. And why bother submitting your articles when you can just get others to link to them when they're on your site?
