Hi. Is CTR 0,1 good or bad for advertising with AdWords? I have got now 4 clicks and approx. 4500 impressions. Thanks for your opinion. Bye.
Am... what is broad match? I advertise on SE (just about 70 impressions, no clicks) and on content network (all other impressions, 4 clicks). Thanks.
i think thats the most worst CTR possible, you should aim for 1% by changing colors and location of banners
oops sorry, my mind totally slipped in that case, its not that bad. it could be better...when i did it, mine was 0.1 too
I think it's quite difficult to say why without taking a look at a "sample ad". Do you have a way of seeing where the impressions are from? Change the way you've worded your ad and see how it works out. Broad match is when your ads get displayed for any combinations of the keywords.
Thx Ana. I was changing my ads a little. First ad, there were no clicks (approx. 1,5k impressions), second one is this one (4 clicks, for about 3k of impressions) and now I have a new one. It is a bit provocative, I hope it will work better. Can you give me example for this... I have three phrases for this ad.
Assuming someone goes to google looking for SEO services in their area. So they type in "Calgary seo services", now if you are targetting seo services (with broadmatch) your ads will appear to that person. Its more likely that the person will not be interested in it and won't click it. Similarly your ad will appear to people looking for seo serives rates, cheap seo service, seo service scammers, and many others, basically anytime someone puts in seo and serrvice somewhere in the search phrase, they do not have to be together either. Although broad match means a lot of impressions, it isn't quite good as far as targetting goes...
I get it now. I was stupid a little, it happens. But isn't at SE that your ad appear only on exact phrase as you typed in adwords. If not, can I prevent broad matching? For content network, broad matching is more often right? What if I put "Calgary seo services", will ad appear if someone search for cheap seo services? Green rep for you AnaB. Thanks.
It's not bad,... it's terrible! Try running a few ad variations using different words to see if you can get a better CTR. Spend an hour reading through the DP adwords forums - it should be worth your while. CTR will depend on your topic but for many campaigns 1% CTR - ten times your current CTR -would be considered low.
Oh I found the adwords tutorial on it. Hope it'll help you...also look around DP and the Adwords help center It really depends on which one works best for you. I mean if your jeywords are very specific then you can easily use broad match. Really depends on how you want to do it. I mean broad match does generate less clicks but sometimes I just leave it as it is especially if its something that can help me with branding..i mean people see it, don't click the ads so what...they have seen my site and atleast a minor percentage will remember it later when they need it (just what i think and this again depends on the type of site and what exactly you're targetting)
There are too many unknowns here to say whether it's low or normal. For example if you're in a hyper competitive field and can't get an ad past the third page, the CTR will be pitiful. Other than that, CTR is all about filtering traffic and having a 'trust me' ad.
Hey Frisby, I suggest you shut down your AdWords campaigns for a bit until you have time to learn about the system...unless you're cool with spending the $ for no return. Not trying to be an ass, it's just that the keyword matching options are the most basic elements of an AdWords campaign. If you don't know what they are and you're already running ads I think you're getting a bit ahead of yourself.
I average 1.5% to 6% on my ads. Just takes work. Something you all should remember... if you get a good CTR your CPC per ad GOES DOWN EACH time!! Will save you a ton of money. Write good ads and target properly.
Show people something they don't expect! Use lots of ad groups, for targetted results to the keywords! The best source on this for me was The Rich Jerk's eBook. I went from 0.6-1.2% to my current 2.3-7.1% CTRs. I now pay less than before, rank higher and get more targeted traffic. ******* Active £0.30 30 571 5.26% £0.26 £7.90 1.1 One of my many ad groups...
I don't pay any attention to any of this stuff. As long as the income is streaming in then all is OK. It's a gift really?
