So i was in best buy yesterday checking out some the new laptops and all the sudden im visiting some websites and im like huh no adsense and there always is adsense there so i check over my blogs no adsense is showing up and im like OMG. Best buy those money grubbers are screwing us over so i call over one the guys working there and ask him hey man what is this why are the adsense no showing up he goes "its is this cool new thing called Ad block" Im like well i make money on adsense and if people use this then im going to lose revenue the guy like well you should sell people things or get a job like a regular person. Now this point i wanted to slap this fat F#$% down with a peice of bacon. lol

My questions is this. Will google Chrome get rid of ad block? I hate firefox that why is still use IE because im not supporting a trader like firefox.

    Tell me what you think.

It doesnt affect much. People who using ads block mean they hate ads or saying they will never click on the ads without ads block.

I will pretty much agree to what "lifeplayer" said. People who will use Ad Blocker, they will not click on ads even if ad blocker is not used.

But if people start to sell computers where ad blocker is pre-installed then that is not ok. Most probably, such computer will be bought by a person who know nothing about Ad blocker and will not hate to see ads. You probably should have slapped that guy :)

Does this Ad Block block all ads or just AdSense ads?

I have been using a host file to block ads and some potentially unwanted sites for years. It is a windows based file so it don't matter what browser I use it blocks it all in both ie and ff. I do not use chrome to say for sure if it does in there too. I would guess that it does. Basically your browser checks the windows host file. If the site / link is on the host file list, then you don't see anything from there. You see the rest of the site, just not the ads. It is updated regularly from http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

I know spybot search and destroy inserts and writes to this file too when you download the latest updates and apply the new immunization. So there is a pretty good chance other software does too, which would end up blocking in more than just firefox.

I got tired of all the big flash ads, sites that had more ads than content, and sites that had border line adult ads on them. I continue to use it, and it is helpful to block my own ads so I don't accidentally click on them when working on an update. I do check to make sure they are there by simply renaming the file to hosts1 temporarily, then change it back when I'm done. It does slow your browsing load time down slightly as it checks the list, and if you have a big list like I do, but it is not much and I can live with it.

Is it good for a publisher, heck no. Do very many people use this...probably not. I think there is a growing group of people that do not like all the ads. Kind of like the popup blockers a few years back, which are now available in most browsers.

Anyway I do not like that some software make it so easy for people to block google ads, but like the other person said they are the people that probably wouldn't click on them anyway.

why brother the ad block, the users of ad block would seldom click the ad even they don't install ad blockers.

Its not about users installing ad block, it's about ad block being pre installed on new PCs and sold.
If every new PC and laptop comes installed with ad blocker, I guess it's time for webmasters to get a "real" job :p

Many people that buy computers now are lucky that they even know how to work their toaster... and still have the blinking 12:00 on their V.C.R. Every one has email now and people that normally wouldn't have computers are getting it just for that purpose. Even elderly people are buying computers so they can keep in touch with their kids and grand kids more frequently.

These people never asked for ads to be blocked and would possibly enjoy ads, especially if they are relevant to the content they are viewing. But now they can't because not only do they not know what AdBlocker is, but would have no clue how to turn it off.

It will definitely result in lost revenue. Hopefully the big companies that use Adwords will catch wind of this and force a change where AdBlocker can still be sold with PC's, just not activated. A lot of big companies would not want their advertisements blocked and they have the money to do something about it.

I don't buy the whole "they won't click on the ads anyway" cos some of us run CPM campaigns, which means we get paid for each and every impression. I hope Chrome does ban these programs, they should considering that's how Google make all their money. Hopefully someone will come up with a simple script that blocks the ad blockers themselves from accessing web pages.:D

Y'know I was using Adblocker for Firefox and really liking it, but then I noticed something. Since I develop and market extremely viable websites I often study ads of websites I visit and with Adblocker I'm unable to 'study my competition'.

The other issue was that there were certain sites like DeviantArt where I actually enjoyed the ads (those full page one's when you navigate page to page).

I then promptly removed the plugin......Serve me ads!:)

we live in a free country so people should be able to do what they want - I too have ads on my sites but I also don't click on other ads and I don't need no ad block, my eyes are trained to know and ignore ad blocks on websites
I am surprised that google hasn't designed something similar to block other ads except their own

    :)

We spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars building our websites, countless hours spent building content and then we give it all for free hoping that we make our investment back through the ads in our site. Then some guy comes along with ad blocker , enjoys our website and gives us nothing in return. Isn't this a form of piracy? Ad Blocker and its users should be sued and sent to the gallows for leeching our content and blocking our revenue. I will not be surprised if the users of ad blocker are the ones who are the most active users of illegal torrent sites

I think Google is ripping you off 100 times more than Firefox is.

    1,000 visitors average = $4.00 in Adsense
1,000 visitors average = $45.00 in Affiliate Program

This is the same site, switching the ads around in the exact same locations. So enjoy your Adsense, you have no idea who is really ripping you off it seems.

there are ways to get around it i suppose.. there are some css tricks involved but some sites do it.. podnapisi.net is one example (they show you a please disable your adblock msg if they detect it)

Who knows what google chrome will do with ad block. The best way to affect the decision is to email them with your concerns
