Does .INFO domain affect SEO?

    Hey guys,

so some people say that having a .INFO domain extension is bad for SEO? is it really true? Does Google, Yahoo, Bing and other SEs consider .INFO less valuable as .com, .net and .org?

Interestingly enough, I launched a .INFO domain 2 weeks ago and it's still not indexed by Google or Yahoo. I launched a .ORG domain last week and it's already ranked by both search engines and appears on the 2nd page for my keyword, with almost no SEO involved. So I'm starting to think that .INFO is really a cursed domain :(

What are your experiences with promoting a .INFO domain?

P.S.: look at the comments section at the botton of this article, a lot of people say .INFO extension got slapped by Google for being a spammy extension: http://www.seowebtips.com/do-domain-extensions-matter/

    Cheers

Hmm i think its not like that .Info domain can also survive. Because i have also used .Co.Cc domain which is freeware domains and Google indexed it within a week so no offense about .Info because its the paid domain so Search Engine also give some respect to .Info also. :)

I registered a .com domain and got it indexed without submitting it to any websites at all, in like one day. With the .info domain I had to struggle, and start a war, just to get it indexed. I think it's about SEO, not about the domain. But I could be wrong...

I rank pretty high for my keywords with the .info domain, but I think I'd rank so much higher with a .com domain or something similar to that.

.info domains are really cheap compared to .com's - that could be why they're considered spammy.

I completely disagree. Yes, .info domains are cheaper but I believe that links from a .info domain are valued higher. Therefore a .info domain is worth more.

If .info TLDs were bad I wouldn't have registered www.seostarterguide.info so I could turn it into the mother of all guides to search engine optimization (seriously -- this will make the SEO Bible look like a cheap ebook, not to mention make Google's SEO Starter Guide look like the steaming pile of vomit it really is). And yes, the site is under development.

Google doesn't care what top level domain you use.

You shouldn't have had any problems with the .info, nor would a .com cause you to rank higher.

Google (or any other search engine for that matter) does not give more or less weight to a link because of the top level domain that it was registered under.

.info is not bad for seo. In fact, if the keyword makes sense with the extension, I really like using it!

I don't think google gives less attention to .info domain as I have seen many websites registered with .info domain and works well in google. In my personal preference ,I will choose .com and .org first

I think Yahoo gave more preference to .info rather than .com. But no doubt .info domain is also worthy.

Google and other major SE will always gives more preference to domain.org , domain.gov, domain.mil . So Google indexed your .org site quickly.

I think that domain.info is also will consider as regular domain like domain.com.

    I suggest you to do
    # social bookmarking for your site
    # promote your site by Social Media

it is true .info domain have less value as compare to .com .org etc. try to purchase domain according location if you are in india, then purchase .in otherwise .com is best option for Global domain

Yahoo doesn't seem to care about extensions as much as Google. I got my .infos ranking up high on Yahoo but out of the top100 on Google... crazy.

Personally I'm done with .infos, from now on I'll spend a little more and try to get .coms .orgs and .nets. It's not worth saving 7$ on the domain ext if your site will start on the wrong foot.

I suspect .infos are good for branched sites (e.g. Things that are sort of related to your main site but different enough you'd want a seperate domain).

Maybe that is just me tho.
