vbSEO - is it needed?

I have been using vbSEO for some time now and just wondered is there any big advantage from using it?

Does having SEF URLs benefit over default vBulletin URLs?

You can also play nice by using the default Vbulletin URL structure, DP is a good example.
SEO is important but content is the the ultimate king anyway.

Wrote about a few SEO mods for VBulletin.
Might want to take a look at those. The url rewrite will also be an option with VBulletin 4 so before you fork out lots of money, wait for VB4 instead.
And as Wallace said, content is king ;)

Having vBSEO certainly benefits any forum, but I have never used it. The price is the main put off for me, the forums I have owned have been successful without vBSEO but you need to put more effort in to it.

If you already purchased vbseo, shouldn't you know the benefits of it?
the url rewrites with vb 4.0 are going to be childsplay compared to what you get with vbseo.
I suggest vbseo to anyone running a vBulletin forum, it's the best thing you can do to SEO your vb forum ;)

Wait for Vb 4.0. It has inbuilt SEO.

Is vBSEO still compiled code? i.e. you have to run a bunch of code that you have no clue if it's interfering with other changes you've made...

I'd definitely recommend vBSEO for any forum using vBulletin. My forum was already doing quite well once it was migrated to vBulletin but after vBSEO was installed, it was as if the forum was running on steroids.

we don't know whether vbseo belongs to VB,
if yes, they will probably kick themselves, right?

Could you provide any data related to your forum. Before Vbseo and after using Vbseo?

I dont really see how vBSEO is good. I used it and got alot of problems in my VB. I had to do a mass restore last time and to optimize my MYSQL database.

Also I got alot more spammers on my forum. I dont like it in my opion.

I'd say that this is an issue with the user, not the product. Don't blame it on vBSEO.

Probably because your site was more promulgated and easier to find. Wasn't that the effect you wanted?

Nope the code of vbseo is not encoded anymore. Infact encoding was removed long ago.
