Matt Cutts, the famous Google engineer clarified the issue which often confuses webmasters and SEO experts. Now we have an official word from Google that Keywords Meta Tag are not used at all for! What are your thoughts ???? Resource : Google does not use keywordsme tags in webranking
I didn't think they had taken any notice of them for at least a couple of years now, or at least given them negligible weight. You may as well keep them there though as I'm sure some engines do still use them, so there's no point deleting them.
I didn't think they had been used for years. I still put them in though, some of the smaller engines still use them....I literally just add them as an after thought though, 5 minute job.
LMAO, yeah and nofollow links don't count either. That's weird when you take a website without the add them they start to rank better... on sept 3rd another Google employee Jon Orwant, who manages the Google Books metadata team says “Without good metadata, effective search is impossible, and Google really wants to get search right." http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2007/12/answering-more-popular-picks-meta-tags.html John Mueller says In writing and maintaining accurate meta tags (e.g., descriptive titles and robots information), you help Google to more accurately crawl, index and return your site in search results. Meta tags provide information to all sorts of clients, such as browsers and search engines. Just keep in mind that each client will likely only interpret the meta tags that it uses, and ignore the rest (although they might be useful for other reasons).
So basically, we have no idea what they are doing. Because they say two different things. But we do see actualy results when using keywords.
Should I pretend to be surprised? Or should I tell you that, I came from the past by time machine with the same message you've just posted in this thread? Just joking . Although Google has a very large share in search engine market, there are still other search engines. It's no harm for you to keep meta keywords.
Climate changes, mood changes, work ethic changes.. Come on Google's algorithm changes too for betterment of its existence..
Speaking of google. Have anyone seen the new google wave api? wave.google.com/help/wave/about.html#video This is the shit.
This is old news that Matt released in a comment to those who keep asking the same tired question. Google doesn't use Meta Keywords. Also, Michael Jackson died in case you havent heard that, either
lol ! google will get out of the SEs business thenext day if they really do what this page is claiming
No, google don't use meta keywords for searching but many other search engines use meta keywords ,but adding meta keywords not a issue.
Meta keywords won't hurt but no use for google - they can however still be useful for other search engines, so no harm having them.
