Hello Dp members, I apologize for your time however I have a quick question. I currently have a job application blog at blogspot focusing on resumes and interviews. My question is if I close that blog and relocate the content to a proper site not a subdomain one will google punish me for duplicate content? Thanks
Perhaps I don't understand the question - if you close the blog, how would you have duplicate content to begin with? People move sites from one domain to another all the time.
I think it will be okay since u have closed the old site, so google won't crawl them any more. Then the content u have add to the new subdomian will be the only unqiue to Google IMO. Correct me If I am wrong, and hope to help!
No I don’t think google will not punish you for duplicate content coz you are closing that old site.
@candise please stop posting other peoples words as your own and please post things related to the topic at hand. You have been doing it for several days now. http://www.searchenginejournal.com/duplicate-content-penalty-how-to-lose-google-ranking-fast/1886/ Sorry if your name is actually Joe Nigel
oh ok thanks everyone, your comments help a lot because I was afraid that if I close my blog that google would have some record of its content or something and it may affect the pagerank of my other site. Yeh you can probably tell I'm quite clueless about SEO, got to learn and start somewhere right? lol thanks once again Dp members
you can redirect it to your new domain, it will help you in seo or use webmaster tool to tell google about your new site.
As per the recent Video of Google's Search Engineer and Search Quality Team member Greg Grothaus there is no such thing by Google like penalty for duplicate content..for more information you may refer - http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/2009/09/16/google-busts-the-duplicate-content-myth
