I really don't have a problem with adsense itself, one of the cleanest run ppc programs. Although with adsense and all of the publicity it gave to ppc, all of the spin-off spam ppc companies were born.

There is alot of wasted revenue because of spam and ppc that companies could have used to lower prices, pay employees more or fund expansion. Which google plays a huge part in, if not executing the majority of it then for spreading it in the media and growing the concepts.

    As of last quarter,
Google Sites Revenues - Google-owned sites generated revenues of $1.43 billion, or 58% of total revenues. This represents a 94% increase over second quarter 2005 revenues of $737 million and a 10% increase over first quarter 2006 revenues of $1.30 billion.

Google's partner sites generated revenues, through AdSense programs, of $997 million, or 41% of total revenues.
    Src: investor.google.com/releases/2006Q2.html

I would say that adesnse is a major part of googles income and would affect them greatly if they closed it down.
58% revenue from google owned sites and 41% revenue from adsense sites.

I believe my theory is still sound.

That's fantastic. I love it! Ok, my AdSense info was old or just wrong. A billion/year with AdSense . Wow. Now these guys can buy more party airplanes.

What does it do that makes you think it's so called...illegal? There's no such thing as illegal black-hat. It's just doing stuff the search engines hate. It's like saying making your bedroom messy is illegal!! Let me know when you get locked up for having a messy room!!! :D

This subdomain guy or there's probably a few of them is unbelievable to me. It is, by no means, easy to do what he's doing, no matter what you think of blackhat SEO.

But until there's a law about black-hat, it won't be illegal at all! :D

Matt Cutts FINALLY talked about this!! 6.8 Megs, audio.

And of course he says the site: number was much higher than it really was, with the most a site had was 150,000...while the rest of us have a much lower number than there really are.

Where he talks about a site with one link in yahoo, no links in Ask, and with a link section with 'a lot of pharmacy sites'....he's talking about one of my sites!!! er, there was just five links to pharmacy sites!! :D:D:D

Google is a for profit company, disregarding their TOS is not illegal, they create their TOS to protect themselves and the mighty dollar.

Not illegal at all, you break the TOS you can get kicked out but thats about it.

Just like nintendo getting grounded for not cleaning his room;)

I think it was my fault. I was flaiming Google big time on that page. Heck, the title was something like: Message from Google: We're screwed up!

*puts foot in mouth* wow I never expected them to get that much money, but if Adsense keeps growing they might.

Though I still think they are undeserving of their market cap of $115 billion

Don't people realize it could be taken away in a year if Microsoft comes out with a new engine, or those Japanese finish the new search engine algorithim they are working on, unless Google adopts it.

P.S. They will NEVER shut down Google adsense. PFFT! Dream on!

I originally posted this thread in the Google forum, but the moderator moved it to the website/reviews forum which doesn't make a hoot of sense.

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=132700

I am seeing a new trend in spamming similar to what is posted in thread. (sub domain spam) initially at: carookee.com. What is disturbing about his type of Google spam is that the spammers are taking over what appears to be legitimate sites, and using them to spam from.

    More examples include:

    site:freewebs.com
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2006-18,GGLG:en&q=site:freewebs.com+drugs

    site:www.kernel-panic Members
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2006-18,GGLG:en&q=site:www.kernel-panic+Members

Shortly after posting above post (about carookee) I notified carookee of the problem and they did something very clever. They changed the redirects to their own services instead of the spammers, but the cloaked pages still remain.

I have been able to track down that much of this spam is orginating from Russia. Could it be possible that the Russian Mafia is behind these huge coordinated spamming attacks in Google. Right now, it is only speculation.
