I have used Gumtree, the classifieds, as a way to get free traffic. I usually give away free ebooks or videos as freebies. Unfortunately, this have only been successful for the health and fitness niche. Was wondering how many of you have used it before, and is it worthwhile to pay money for a job ad on there for a work from home business opportunity?
Gumtree is a fairly high traffic classifieds ad. I've used it before to advertise site development services with a little success.
I heard gumtree has allot of traffic. But you can also look at other classified sites. Just search for others on a search engine. And then try out other sites as well. That's how you will know for sure.
I have used gum tree, its ok classified site but i got good traffic from vivastreet it’s gave me better results than gumtree.
UK webmasters need to pay attention to Gumtree, as it has an Alexa rank here of #25! They don't like you linking out to your sites and they say a big NO NO to work from home subjects. A great alternative who allow both of these things are Viva Street; unfortunately they run links as nofollow and don't get the same monster traffic as Gumtree. The dating sections are huge at Gumtree - ads that are a few hours old usually have thousands of page views. There is money to be made with Gumtree, but it would take work and you have to be savvy via autoresponders, killer landing pages etc.
The biggest disadvantage with Craigslist is that you cannot post a site-wide classified. Craigslist would certainly, IMO, benefit from letting users post a site-wide classifieds, maybe for an ad selling an ebook or for a JV wanted ad, instead of only posting in a geographic area. Otherwise, Craigslist is great!
I've used it to get people to WORK for me - to get customers, I haven't had much success with that to be honest.
I use gumtree aswell.. and has always bought me gud traffic.. but looking for something abit better for traffic.. which will help work me up in google and yahoo.. any ideas on free advertising?
You can sometimes get away with general links, but they will take down any such links to inner pages that say "find out more here" and they would dump your redirection URLs as well. They pull your ads and then will usually say something about you not having a genuine business landline number. So stick with general URLs, which I believe will run as dofollow, and then use autoresponders to capture leads.
Classified are worthless, unless you scale up and outsource the work. You need thousands of ads up and running/ promoted if you are really into selling something. Just speaking of my own experience with usfreeads.com long time ago. I gave up since then..
