I have a 8.5GB file that i need to send my freind from canada. How can i do it and which way would be the fastest?
Well... assuming you have decently fast Internet. 1.5Mbit upload speed would take about 12-13 hours to transfer.
Since your friend is at different place, you can only use Internet to send his file to him... Change your broadband plan to fastest when you have to send that file. Or Copy that file to a Pen Drive and mail it to him... - Digital -
what i meant is, what can i use to send that file? its too big for email... Uploading it to a website, is that the only fast way? My internet speed is fast enough, 30Mbs...
How about using torrents for sending your file... you make a torrent and your friend will download it?
First, I would split the file into several chunks in case you need to re-try. You said 8.5GB right? (was that a DVD9, ah never mind ) Perhaps 8-9 chunks of around 1GB, or 17 chunks of 500MB and so on. Next, I would setup a simple FTP server, or run a web server like Tomcat. Give the IP and port to the other fellow and get him to download. Simple and easy.
This data transfer is by far the easiest way of copying the files to a floppy diskette and transferring them to another computer. But only copying Large.
Oh baby.... How many 5¼ inch floppies would it take to hold 8.5GB? As lowem said, definitely split it up into smaller files - so if something goes wrong, your friend won't have to start from scratch. Pretty much any zip or rar utility should be able to do this, and you might even reduce the total size a bit while you're at it. Sound like a lot of stuffing around to me. Personally, I'd just snailmail a DVD. But I'm in Australia, and most of us are on up/download quotas, and we're used to doing things the hard way
i didn't get it well, you mean 2 computers close , then you can youe lab link cable + NC program and if you ment 2 computers can only be connected via internet, then you can use ftp server, one of you create an ftp server with virtual ftp servers programms and then the other one can download the content he want to get it . it act as sharing btween same network
