I am thinking to start a website very similar with serials.ws and youserials.com but I wonder how legal are this kind of websites?

    Any feedback highly appreciated!
    Thank you!

No I don't believe they are illegal. It depends on your host I'm pretty sure. I just skimmed through HostGator's TOS and there was nothing against serial keys and such.

    Thank you @tristan!

I am thinking to use leaseweb in The Netherlands and I am sure will work, anyway I will state in TOS that if I receive complains I will proceed to remove only the serials for which I receive a complain.

I know that HostGator is not friendly with warez content.

Yes Jay but serial keys aren't illegal or have anything to do with warez. If you own it then you can sell it. Reselling a legal product is legal. I can understand if you were linking your customers to a torrent file for the game they bought but that's not the case :). If you want to be safe get offshore, it's not much more expensive and many resellers sell it cheap! Best of luck with your business.

Illegal to host in many countries. In some countries in Europe, you might be able to get away with such content.

You have to be careful though since some companies offshore just disappear all the sudden

It's illegal in the United States, but you can buy offshore hosting which I would recommend to you if you're actually thinking about starting the site. BE prepared for possible legal action since you're taking money out of the pockets of those big companies.

Let me get this straight: you want to start a site that provides keys to software you do not own in any way? Hopefully this sounds a few integrity alarm bells as well as the legal ones you're worried about ...

Do those that Encourage illegal activities realize that they are bringing thier own credibility and ethics into question?

I would have to agree.. It is illegal if it isn't your product.. but if you do get a approval from the owners and publishers, i guess it is legal..
