There are also times where you can get a lot of traffic, especially if you commented on a famous site and left a really good comment.

Do you have a strategy for blog commenting?

    How many comments a day/week?

How do you find the right blogs/posts to leave a comment on?

Do you track your comments in order to follow up if there are any questions or replies?

Many blog commenters comments on blogs that have "nofollow" tags for the purpose of generating additional traffic to their own sites, and their comments aren't really that "meaningful" or "relevant" to the original posts.

Some blog owners found the "trick" too obvious so they have started:

    • Closing posts that have been outdated for a couple of weeks
    • Requiring registrations before someone can post comments

SEO-wise, if you are only looking for those blogs that don't yet have "nofollow" tags installed, the blog owners will become clever and close this "gap" sooner or later.

Of course, some people are both very active "bloggers" and "blog readers". They tend to write (blog) and read other bloggers' blog posts at the same time. They choose blogs that are related to their industry, when they comment.

Hello. There are some very good points raised here about blog commenting. I especially liked Traffic-Bug's post about the comment forms on blogs. Traffic-Bug I too share the same views as you. I have some really big "pet hates" about some blogs.

Some blogs encourage comments by installing "top commenter" plugin or dofollow plugins etc etc. But they make you register first or if you use your keyword in the name part they edit your comment and remove your link. (regardless to how good your comment was) This stinks! But you must endeavour. Do not be disheartened if you find your comment does not make it and show up in Google as a backlink.

Blog commenting takes time. If you are a serious marketer or website developer you should do blog commenting daily as an integral part of your sites seo campaign. But you really need thousands of links. And you need to keep doing it over time but wait! Don't get too many comments....

Google likes "natural link building" and if it finds too many sites linking to you too soon it may flag you as a spam site and de-index you. So don't be too rash in getting comments. 2 or 3 a day is all you need. Not 50+ comments a day. That will surely do you more damage than good.

I hope you bare this in mind when leaving blog comments!

    - 20-30/week

    - i choose anything as long as it is related to my site.

    - yeah, I keep a record using excel.

Some good points there, i agree with what you said. Blog commenting do takes time and backlink in google will not show up right away but it surely will, you just have to be more patient.

It is very helpful if done the right way.

1.You need to know where your customers will be hanging out, ie, which blog they are most likely reading.
2.Don't leave superficial comments such as "Great Post, thanks for the ideas" ... lame
3.Be aware of the commenting rules of the blog, that is, do they allow keywords as a name? Do they allow links to deep links?

Yes, the main purpose should be to get back links. It shouldn't be anyone's strategy to drive quality traffic by posting comments on blogs.

Blog commenting is suck, this based on blog owner mood. If they want your comment, you just safe.
Other side is no follow attribute, many high PR blog had putting this attribute. WTF.

Well even if a blog is nofollow Google still counts the link.

Basically you can increase SERP by doing dofollow blog commenting. But we must care about High PR blog inner pages, Relevance and less out bound links pages. Otherwise we won't get correct result.

    Thanks
    Blog.

It's a mid- to long term strategy that is only one on the link builder's tool belt.
