    Hi,
I was planning to build/buy an opt in email list to promote products/websites but I understand it's a time consuming and hard process. I think twitter can be a good replacement to an opt in email list, so what do you guys thinks, what are the pros and cons?, should I build an opt in email list or twitter followers (which is comparatively lot easier)

Yes, I do agree with you. Twitter is the best option than the email, when you consider email it will take some time and you need some money to collect emails. But if it is twitter, you can join FREE, follow the guys with your same interest or your target audience and get more visits :D Am I right?

    I would do both.

I also use Twitter to build my list, and it works great.

I think you should go with both options. Using twitter to also build your list.

Getting Twitter followers is indeed very easy, but getting Twitter readers is more difficult. Many times people don't follow you because they actually are interested in what you tweet. They follow you so that you follow them, and if you don't do it they will unfollow you because they are not there to read your tweets ;) There are lots of people who have thousands and tens of thousands of followers. Do they read everything? Impossible. There are also lots of bots that will follow you, etc.

Go for both list building & Twitter and see what works better for you.

twitter is the worse form of social networking out there , double opt in emails are the best and you can control what you do as long as you stay with in the laws of canspam

Twitter is def not a replacement for an optin in email list. You should have both and build ur own opt in list. Depending on your niche you can do things like give away a free ebook, icons, etc to build up a list and fans of ur site will naturally follow you on twitter if you let them know you have it.

Don't waste money on email list... buy twitter tool instead... Email is one time use and will generate no result..

I disagree with email is one time use. If you able to build good relationship with reader, they will always open your mail to read.

Of course that email is not one time use. Once someone subscribes to your newsleter, ezine or mailing list, you can contact that person many times (until she or he unsubscribes).

I think email is much better. People are more "forced" to looking at their email. Most people check all or most of their unread messages; however, the same cannot be said for tweets

    Hello,

Twitter won't be able to deliver the results you can expect using an opt-in list.
But building a huge followers list is much easier than an opt-in list.

I recommend you use both: You start with Twitter to help you build your list.
At a first step, twitter will help you build your list for free and then, at a second stage, will help you grow your list.

So, twitter can be a support for your efforts to build and then grow an opt-in list an never a replacement!

    To your success!

To use Twitter effectively, you shouldn't spam all your followers all the time.
Carry on conversations and interact, you'll get more out of Twitter if you do that ;)
