    HI All,

I have a question in my mind for directory submission, In SEO off-Page stuff you can see that all SEO's start the off-page stuff by doing directory submission firstly.
Suppose that if i do only directory submission for a site, so can i get PR of my site?
Again i am explaining my question: Would directory submissions are helpful to get any PR of a site?

If the directories you are submitting to have good PR, if your link gets published quickly (& not in 4-5 months), if the page your link is placed has PR, if your link is not nofollow, if the directories have different C Class IPs (& not bulk of the directories hosted on the same IP), if the page your link is place has PR & there are not many outgoing links on it......then yes you can get PR for your site by doing directory submissions.

    Thanks for your advice,
But as I think every SEO knows that If you have a link on a PR page then you could get PR, but condition is that it is difficult to search that type of directory which could fulfill all your recommendation.(If you have this type of directories plz give me : ) )

When you submit you site info in any directory then your link always goes in your choosing categories, and the PR of that page most time is zero....this is the question.... you link places on zero PR page.

It's impossible, you can't compete in the battle of search engine optimization by only submitting your website in to directory

No, you cannot get good PR only with directory submission. You have to play with other methods such as article submission, your niche related forums postings, your niche related blog commentings and social bookmarks too. Specially stick with your niche related sources.

I don't think you can get more benefit by only directory submission because very few directories having proper ranking and other criteria. so we can not depend only on directories.

If you want to build PR from free directories only then it will take ages. Also most of the high quality directories are paid such as Yahoo! etc., so if you want to stuck with directories only then you should consider high quality directories only.

As I idea - I did a directory submission for a client (400 directories from a reliable provider) - zero showing up in 2 months time- never rely o one type of building links....directory submissions on their own -if they happen wont get results

My main blog is in a very few directories but it has tons of links from other peoples sites and it is page ranked at 4 and has been since a couple of months after I started it. Directory submission is fine but the real good ones can take forever to get into.

You won't achieve huge success through directories only but if it's for a legit, identifiable business then niche business directories will help relevance and will also drive some traffic. Paid directories do help if you have the money and they are good quality.

I would not mind paying for high quality directories to list my site but if they reject me I have waisted my money. I would appreciate some comments on this,

Yes it can give you some PR. But if you are looking for the better page rank, you should choose the high PR directories and get links from high PR one-way dofollow webpages or blogs.

To start with, you shouldn't be focused on PR anyway (unless your in some sort of contest). You should be focused on the serps. Couple of years ago directories took a HUGE hit with credibility in Google's eyes. You can still get tons of seo benefit from directories, but submitting to thousands of directories won't get it done.

You'll have to do some manual work but search for directories that are proudly human edited. Most (if not all) will cost some money, but that is just to keep out the spammers (thereby increasing quality). Also search for smaller niche directories that might work for your niche. Some of these still hold good weight with G.

Overall directory submits should be just a small portion of your link building and seo work. Although with some home work it can pay off in the long run.

P.S. Try botw.org they cost some money, but can be worth it.

    Depends on the directories.
Better try social media and bookmarking submission - it is faster and you get more visitors.

IMO, you may reach PR1 or PR2 if you submit to a few hundred directories.

    that's it....:D.

most of directories have a very poor "incoming links: outgoing links" ratio and nowadays, Google doesn't really like such sites.
