Hi I want to create a review website - with categories (like English, Russian, Hindi, etc.) and sub categories (like Comedy, Horror, etc. in each of the catgories). The site should let any user submit content and provide rating, and the admin should be able to approve it. Readers can provide comments. Now, can you suggest which of the CMS to go for? I am trying it out with Drupal, but it looks kind of tough for a non-programmer like me. Anyone got a review website like to share me their experience? Thanks a lot.
I don't have a review site, but i can recommend Joomla. It's hard to get up and running at first, but easy to maintain.
how easy is it to set up a review website on joomla vs. drupal. Drupal is a newbie's nightmare...Learning it is like asking a kindergartner to do a PhD.!
Joomla is perfect for what you want to do. You can hand out usernames and passwords and hire others to do inexpensive reviews. This gives you what the search engines love : Fresh Content. If you want to start out yourself with installing Joomla, or to just try it out online here is the page : LINK
Joomla has an excellent reviews plugin, but it costs $$$. I believe there are free review plugins for wordpress though.
I prefer Joomla, due to its huge flexibility and it is easy to use. It has also the capability to deal with different languages.
I would stay with Wordpress. I have created a review site (which is now totally abandoned) called TopPortables.com, you just need to find the right plugins and Wordpress can make almost every website you need. Please, let me know if you need any advice in which I can help Thank you.
I have built review sites with Wordpress, Drupal and Joomla. If you don't know a lot of PHP then stick with Wordpress. I build this review site using wordpress reviews.ruddo.com
Joomla is the one to go for here. As someone else said it is tricky at first, but once you get used to it you will be fine.
