Why is my site (www.glasswaredreams.com) ranking low (~#19) in Yahoo for my top key word phrase "lolita glasses" while the rank in google is nice at #5. Why the disparity between the two SE's?
They have different algorithms that they use to rank the keywords. Just because you rank good in Google doesn't mean anything about yahoo or Bing. The best way to rank good in any search engine is to optimize your site for SEO and to build links. Simple as that. May I ask why the name "lolita"?
Thanks, definitely a niche site. Lolita hand painted glasses are pretty popular here in the states, women mostly buy them obviously. The designers name is Lolita. I guess I just need to keep up the quality link building!
they follow different algo, its better to rank and google than yahoo cause it will definitely give you traffic.
All of my Yahoo SERPs are way off too. I have a site that is 2 years old with 28k backlinks that ranks in positions #1 through #5 for a number of competitive keywords, but it's no where to be found in Yahoo results. Across all my sites less than 5% of traffic comes from yahoo.
If you're really that worried about Yahoo results it pays to fork over the $299 for the Yahoo Directory submission, that'll definitely help you in the Yahoo SERPS
I would also consider writing a few more articles about these Lolita things just to get more content to your site. You could do something like a "featured piece" and talk about what makes it unique. Another good thing to do is to start posting on a forum that would be related to these things. Make yourself known and than add your link in the signature... just a thought.
yahoo and google have different algorithm. you can also submit site to the yahoo paid directory submission. it will help you.
Do some more SEO and you will get even better SERPs in both Google and yahoo. Yahoo emphasizes more on On-Page optimization than google...
Yes yahoo and google algorithms are diffenet but can anyone tell me which are the points yahoo giving much important for higher rank in serps .
Major differences between Google's and Yahoo's search algorithms which I suspect: PageRank of Links to the Website PageRank of Links to the Page Links on Page to External Websites Freshness of Page Content Stickiness of Page from Search Results
Does anyone have a general list of what elements of SEO each SEs care about most? Google - Quality Back links? Yahoo - ? Bing - ?? Maybe it is not that simple...
i have much the same problem and it annoys me to tell the truth. i do believe from what i've read that google now places more heavy emphasis than it used to on the keyword in the URL and also on quality backlinks ; while yahoo as shailaurs mentioned puts more emphasis on on-page factors. though i'll be darned if I can figure out yahoo. i mostly to be honest work to optimize on and off page for google as there's so much more traffic there. i would suggest looking around some more about yahoo factors before changing anything major on your website etc to try to satidfy them.... also, what's the comparision between your traffic from google and yahoo - mine is like 80% or more for google to less than 20% for yahoo and msn combined....
