How is the fact that we have had nuclear capabilities for a long time and never used them "evidence that we can't be trusted"? That makes absolutely no sense. Yes my problem is that a fanatical islamist state wants nuclear weapons. You seem to be under the impression that this is an unreasonable reason for not wanting them to have them.
I think this is the difference, thankfully, between the older generation and new comers: We aren't as afraid and will defend those who would curse us (we learned this from how our elders have mistreated us). There seems to be a problem with those older than 30 and their ability to understand metaphor/similes/analogies. Of course there's no literal Rome or Babylon, making that an argumentative point shows there was no original point of contention to begin with and it was just grasping at straws for the sake of a post. I'm pretty sure everyone knows that those political boundaries of Rome and Babylon are no longer up...But to think that governing styles have changed, that's a problem of misreading history. Leaders still read The Prince, written 500 years ago. Persia has been Iran for 30 years...And no Persian I know refer to themselves as Iranian, or their country as Iran. Persia, not Iran; you must read a bit about the world before speaking of it. Babylon = Modern day Iraq literally/Global power ("Moloch") figuratively. Rome = ...Europe/America. Your lack of understanding of simple symbolism by referencing Rome is a city (that's like saying the same thing of Washington, while forgetting the state), or that I should buy a real map...That's pathetic and there was not a single refutation of any point made. You think I speak like a jihadist? Does that frighten you that America has created a youth who have had a conscience since 9/11 to protect their land, friends, and family from enemies both FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC with a lack of self-regard in favor for actually correcting a situation in order to stop the repetition of history? Is it that intimidating that we don't fear the saber rattling of our parents? I do think he's lying, blatantly. I just think he shouldn't have a reason to explain himself if we, the United States, don't. Sorry I actually believe in our Declaration that "All men are created equal." Sorry we went to school and are actual Americans, not uneducated presidential ball washers. Let him have his finger on the button, that frightens YOU; the old and withering, not us. Sincerely, The Monsters You Have Created
I don't know what elder mistreated you - but I think that is your personal issue. In spite of your naivete about the world, you are nonetheless protected from the evil you fail to see or acknowledge or comprehend. Luckily for the rest of us, people with your fringe views are unlikely to make it to positions of power. We are all created equal, so why do we lock criminals up? We don't treat crazy people like they are sane. Why is that?
LOL. In case you're curious, junior, not only am I aware if it... I recall when it started. During the Carter administration the US embassy in Iran had been turned into a prison for diplomats by a bunch of thugs. An Iranian friend of mine explained that calling himself Persian kept him out of shouting matches with folks now suspicious of Iranians. It wasn't born of a desire to harken back to days when they were an empire, just a social device to avoid confrontation. The practice has continued, and youngsters no doubt haven't a clue how it began. Welcome to reality. Before suggesting I learn history, recall that I've been here for events you've only heard about from your little chat buddies. No doubt the hardest job of teachers handling kids from about 13 up is trying to instruct some brat that thinks they already know everything. Nonetheless I'm sure the security of being ignorant of ones ignorance must be a comfort. As for the redundant suggestions your seniors are afraid or intimidated by you, relax, not the case. The appropriate term is "pity". So many educational opportunities, so few utilized in a manner that improves the mind. What a shame. Next time before lecturing your dad on the intricacies of the world, make your bed and take out the trash. At least you'll have done *something* worthwhile that day.
Oh, my elders have been amazing to me! I am very sorry that came across wrong. The ones who see the truth of what is going on are invaluable resource to the youth as they are instructing the next in line. The only old folk that have been a problem have been the "Iron Curtain Gang" from the 50s, usually the children of those who have gone to fight. Why do we lock up criminals? Because our justice system does not believe in rehabilitation, just punishment: Fact. Why don't we treat crazy people like they are sane? Our definition of normal is insane, and insanity is widely spread (ADD diagnosis prevalence is just the tip of the iceberg). Half of my family is military, the other is religious/scientific: Trust me, I've seen plenty of 5 continents. The evils of the world are so simple to unravel that it is maddening that this power structure has been in control for so long. No one around the world is as paranoid as Americans are about dying. Those around the world attack their governments much more than the oh so revolutionary Americans do. The nation is now being led and guided by a very disenfranchised youth, and to ignore that is to ignore those who want most to help you rest in peace (mean that in a good way). No one has yet argued against my positions, just against me. No one had to debate in a class before? Or did you all forget how to, as adults usually do when they get so set in their ways they can no longer cooperate or compromise and that leads to psychosis due to ego control. Funny how desperately you'd like me not to be in connection or prominence because you see my views as "fringe." Know this, ordinary people like yourself do not run anything. I've eaten dinner at Rumsfeld's house, and shook Afghan parliamentary members', my congressmen's, and Obama's hand at my High School (Built 1901, my school is probably older than the town you live in. Even have a high school greek lettered society...Nutty) (I don't support any of the above individual's policies). You should really study how to discuss before discussing.
Your story is a case in point for why it may not be right in some circumstances. It's getting to the point of insanity where they may take away your guns if you have ADD even. You may have said "why not?" back then, but when a thief, rapist, or murderer breaks into your house, you may feel differently. As for Iran, this is nonsense, because the country trying to stop Iran from using nukes, is the ONLY COUNTRY TO HAVE USED THEM. (thus hypocrites) That said, if you're going to attack Iran, please don't waste trillions of our dollars rebuilding their country and training their next radical army in modern warfare (as we're doing in Iraq). The elite want to drain america's strength building up radical muslim country's armies. It's nonsense that any american "patriot" can support the economic destabilization of their own country. On a side note, when going to Japan I wondered why there were no christians there, and a local told me (I'm roughly translating since it wasn't in english) that we "bombed out" christianity. When I researched it, guess what I found? The two most christian cities in Japan were: Hiroshima and Nagasaki (the cities we nuked). When 500 years of persecution didn't kill the hundreds of thousands of christians in Japan, our nuclear bombs genocided all of those civilian men, women, and children in a split second. Interesting fact: the pilot was told to use the largest church in Japan as the landmark for when to drop the bomb on Hiroshima. Despite being less than one percent of Japan's population, over 10 percent of these killed by the nuclear bombs were christians. So as far as I'm concerned, the only country which has ever, and probably will ever, intentionally nuke christians is the USA, who already intentionally wiped out Christianity from one country so far.
I am not sure what you want me to argue against. I don't have a problem with you having the opinion that it is perfectly okay for Iran to have nuclear weapons. I just don't agree. I am not sure what benefit there is for anyone to try and convince you personally of the danger. Did you have some other position other than "old people are lame" and "Iran should be allowed nuclear weapons", that you wanted someone to comment on? I am not really sure what your name dropping or how old your school has to do with anything, but I guess you think it is relevant. I guess my advice to you is that there are certain lessons only time can teach you.
Cyrus just nailed that coffin shut TIGHT. The last statistic made me literally laugh out loud. Not to mention Nagasaki was also, literally, a "why not?" World history is so simple when you forget the past, have tunnel vision, and are hypocritical. I kind of hoped that logic, rational thought, and sound morals would lead people to good policy decisions...But it's been apparent that if someone like Cyrus doesn't spell it out for you and make you feel personal guilty (OH NO, WE KILLED CHRISTIANS!), you wouldn't act or change your mind or think like a human...
because that "some" are Muslims thats why? every one now who miss used nuclear weapons in Iraq, Afghan and Pakistan
Which means you're gonna flunk Physics. With a plane thousands of feet above the earth travelling at bomb-run speed... the one place you're assured you CAN'T hit is anything at or behind the point of drop. Look up the term "momentum" and call back when you find a clue.
The thing is, Iran has proven they do not work or play well with others. That is why. It's not hard to comprehend. And sooner or later their little "power plants" are going to go boom. That is a fact of life. Just like new's extremist views. Just like Obama's a black colored person raised like a rich white man. Just like politicians are corrupt. Just like this forum is called Digital Point.
I think every country has the right to have a Nuclear Weapon, if iran can use it against any one, then US can also use that (which they did 50-60 years ago), the other solution could be that all the countries including USA should destroy their Nuclear weapon and no one should allow to have a nuclear weapon. You can not restrict Iran not to make Nuclear weapon, coz They fear that American's can attack them, (Like they attack afghanistan, iraq, and even USSR and many others) so how gonna they defend their country with Bullets and guns. So they should have all the rights to defend their country cheers
most people think that USA used nukes once in Japan during WW2, it is more accurate to say USA has been using nukes since they had them, one type of it's usage is the direct one as happened in Japan, and the other type of usage is the one that been used to bully other nations, as an aggressive nation who loves war, USA used nukes to threaten many nations, their fear of Iran having nukes is not because they think Iran will use nukes once they have them, do you really think Iran would use nukes once they have them? knowing that Israel has at least 150+ nuclear heads, and that USA has ten's of thousands of them, and Europe also, and many others, even if Iran got nukes, the moment they use them, hundreds if not thousands of nuclear heads will be heading to Iran, first Iran is not interested in nuclear weapons, but in nuclear energy, assume they want to have nuclear weapons, they have all right to have them, which in their case will be used as a defense, rather than offense like in USA and Israel, it will create a balance, so if USA later, or Israel found themselves in a war which they been able to start but not able to end, they will not consider using nukes as they did in Japan, and as they were going to do in Vietnam, when only the fears of Soviet Union nukes stopped them from doing so, here Soviet Union's nukes been used indirectly to stop USA from using it's nukes againt Vietnam after they again started a war that they can't end, both USA and Israel do not want Iran to obtain nukes because it will limit the other type of usage of the nukes they have, they will no longer be able to threat Iran with nukes using the other indirect usage of these weapons, because they will know then, it is not an option and will make them think 100 times before they decide to start a new war against Iran.
You keep saying USA and Israel, but, hate to break it to you, its most of the international community.
the only countries that capable to use nukes and walk away with that only US and Rusia. No other countries will ever use their nukes, because if they ever use their nukes, they will be destroyed from the face of the earth. but, if Iran have nukes, I believe there will be no more wars between Israel, Arabs and Iran. Both side will think twice before they create another war, because of fear of nukes. So, nukes in Iran (if they have one) will create peace in that region.
What if things changed, what if it were no longer just "countries" with nuclear capability? What if islamic terrorists had nuclear weapons? It's not just that Iran is unstable, and Ahmadinejad is an angry little man that believes we are satan. Hasn't Iran also been supplying weapons to Hezbollah, Iraqi militia fighters, Hamas? Would they keep their nuclear capability to themselves, or would they share it? Would it happen that a terrorist group like Al-Qaeda could get help from Iran to nuke the US, Israel, or the UK, and Iran could sit back and say it wasn't them?
will it be safer if "another terrorist" have nuclear weapons? will it be safer if Timothy McVeigh had a nuclear weapon?
Let's make the question even more ridiculous. Let's say Timothy Mcveigh had proclaimed publicly that he would like to see the FBI building wiped off the map, or for the sake of argument, 'eliminated from the page of history'. It would make even more sense to let him get the nuke then wouldn't it? You've convinced me. We should not only not oppose Iran in getting the nuke but we should probably sell them some. Nukes for oil?
