Anyone know how google treats show and hide div's? Does google treat the page as if the content in the hidden div is part of the page or not? Cheers Simon
Google has said they understand limited CSS and javascript so its not like you will be able to fully hide it from google if your doing certain black hat tactics...
Its not black hat its a way of keeping the content on the page but out of the way so clients can read it if they want. Since I made that change esome of the pages have dropped rankings quite heavly and one of my sites has dropped out of the rankings as a result. Has anyone had bad experiances with this? Cheers, Simon
Show/Hides and other similar effects, such as drop-down menus, are common practice. As long as there is a clear mechanism for the user to display the hidden content you won't be penalized. Your drop in rankings almost certainly a coincidence.
