One of the first SEO forums I signed up with a long time ago was this one: http://www.ihelpyou.com/forums/ As time progressed I felt like the people there had some sort of chip on their shoulder, and they loved to "out argue". I must admit I usually did not win, I felt I held my own pretty good. I decided to write a formal post about why I don't participate there much anymore (http://www.ihelpyou.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=23002) Here is the text: I would love to get your comments about my post, as well as how you decide on what are the "best practices". Thanks, David
It's one of the oldest SEO forums, but the old members there all have old well ranked sites and haven't really kept up to date with the changes in SEO since then. It's not really an SEO forum anymore IMO, there's certainly no good advice that comes out of there.
i tried talking some reason to them, but they don't seem to be interested in discussing anything and they think they know everything and all the others know nothing.. so let it be, better for us they even started a special thread for me www. ihelpyou.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=22473 (i don't want to give them a link, they don't deserve it )
Ok, good to know I am not alone in my views. It seems like they love to prove me wrong, so if I'm bored, I go over there and give them some honey.
That's why I hate the much used phrase "Take care!". I take risk instead. Makes life much more interesting and rewarding. No one has ever achieved great things by just taking care. Everything noteworthy in history has only been achieved by taking various degrees of risk. Like the Ford executive said to a youngster who asked how to make it to the top there: "Double your failure rate."
you call it risk, I call it informaiton, knowledge and technology.. Who said search engines are smarter than us?
They changed the title of the thread to "dvduval blows his horn" This just makes it obvious how they react to pressure. They had a very prominent member leave a while back. This is her site. http://www.highrankings.com/ I have a feeling it must have been related to a "difference of opinion". Read a few threads, and you will see how easily a difference of opinion can happen.
I haven't checked them out, ever, but I wonder what the point of a forum is when you don't allow anything other than what you think yourself as the owner. You might as well use a normal informational site like a blog.
