How to track and monitor your SERPS?

    Hello all,

I have many sites and I am looking for a free application to help me track my rankings.

Up until now, I had been using one called Free Monitor For Google, but now it seems as if its data is all over the place!

Here is the features that the application used to have and what I am ideally looking for:

    1) You input the URL and a keyword (or more) and it would show me where my site ranks for that keyword(s).

    2) It stored the "best" placement that I had ever achieved, and the current placement, and it would show me by how many ranks I had increased or decreased.

I found another amazing application that does all that, however, it's much more complicated since it offers in depth reports. It would be great if I could just set it up, click, and let the app do the job.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!!

there's not many free tools around to do that - caphyon do a paid tool, and sheerseo is a paid service.

Google Analytics should be used in addition to a paid tool. Try statcounter. it is easy to use and inexpensive. Even the free version is good for small sites.

Its easy and worth to use. You can check your SERPS for certain keywords on every website.

I use "traffic travis", it works REALLY well for position tracking for me. The free version allows you to track.

Doing it manually is still the best way to acquire your latest rankings.

I use Rank checker from SEObook which allows you to search if your keyword is ranking in the top 100 but suppose if you want to check for the keywords which is not on the first top 100 spot i reckon do it manually.

    1) Go to Google and Click on Search Settings and change the "Number of Lists" to 100.
2)Make the Google search for your keyword and it will display 100 SERP for the keyword in the first page
3)Ctrl+F and give your URL address (the page your targeting for the keyword term)
4)Click on next (Ctrl+F) and check for each page if your keyword term is having a SERP.

    Regards
    Gemma

Thanks so much for all your ideas :)

I agree that doing it manually would be best, however, I am an addict when it comes to checking rankings. I have MANY websites, and I like to check them everyday at midnight to see how they change so checking them manually is not really a viable option :p

I will try Rank Checker and see how it does!

    Thanks again

If you can afford it Advanced Web Ranking is hands down the best tool to use. You can schedule updates to run whenever you want, all kinds of reports and much, much more.

To do it manually you can can just do a search for your keyword in Google and bookmark the results. That way you can just see your SERP's with one click. I do this but only for the most important keywords.

Would be pretty easy to make a bot for yourself in visual basics if you know anything about it. I'll probably make one soon to monitor both myself and some of my competition. That's the way to go though, an offline bot. The only problem would be monitoring your all time best in the keywords.

I think Rank checker is not free any more. Its a nice software but it seems we need a subscription to use that. While the existing installed still works. I dont get the link to install after I removed that addon.

I will open a new thread for this...

Edit: Sorry guys, rank checker is accessible.

To get visitors from search engines, your website's pages need to be listed and seen on page one of Search Engines' Results Pages (SERPs). That means you need to track your sites' SERPs for target keywords. Here’s how.

You can 'manually' find a SERP ranks by searching with the relevant keyword and noting where your site is listed.

This will never give accurate results - firstly people try to do this when they're signed in to a google product (and half the time they don't even know they are) and so are getting personalised results. And even without that, all you're seeing is the result that your IP gets from one data centre at the time you looked - it's not a reliable scientific way of doing it.
