Suggesting a site is free. Not getting listed. Read again what Lotos1 wrote. He said "...pay ... for a listing on DMOZ"

Pay to get banned for ever, surely even a dollar is too much for that.

Listing is free please don't try and pay and risk getting banned, you might have a good site that we could otherwise have used.

I agree there is a chance you will get banned if you try to pay. But there is a chance you won't be banned and your site will be listed.

But, I guess most probably you won't get banned. Furthermore, I think it's even more difficult getting banned for paying than getting listed for suggesting. haha :)

On desirable and money making categories, the paid and DMOZ mafia owned sites are more than the sites listed for free, so it seems your ban is not working. ;)

    Funny conversation...

I coulda swore they said there was no merit in the scriptlance site...not even with the completed transactions with positive feedback... I sure would like to know if all of those listings have been banned, or even looked into... I mean, heck, they are all talked about here, or on scriptlance, and according the anonymous poster above, those are not looked at, only the sites where the report button is clicked

Who is one to believe, the guy hiding behind a false name that flips his story from post to post, or dedicated sites like scriptlance which seemingly show there is site after site with paid listings.

    *shrug*

Personally, I'd prefer to believe the editor...but I've not seen one post about this recently.

how's come in this case the directory it's full of spam sites and listings witch aren't follow the guidelines ? oh right I`m not an editor to say '' this is good / this is right '' ? well with sure I can see what's spam and what's not right ? or I need to be an editor to do that too :)? to be honest I think I know more about spam than maybe half of current editors from here .... why ? because last 10 years maybe that's was a '' passion '' for me .... why ? because that's most of the time put my bread on the table for the family .... why ? because was my choice ... :) NOW .... IF that was investigated HOW's come the directory it's full of spam then ?

It's simple. The "report abuse" button is the key.

The abuse button is there just as a trap, for stopping abuse cases becoming of public knowledge. If you are naive enough as for believing in DMOZ word, you would report an abuse case there. Of course your report will end up in the Trash can and nothing will happen.

well let me tell you it's wrong
this sentence , usually when things are '' reported '' like spam links and so on ... they are extremely fast of cleaning from public eyes the mess , actually my first and only one link reported on rz forums witch was an parked domain (* YES YOU SEE CORRECTLY - a parked domain listed on the directory ) was deleted within like 30-40 minutes :) after was deleted . Funny it's when I started to ask questions I started to get infractions ( * screenshots available about them ) on this forum and everything ended up with few months of ban lol , thanks again guys love ya

Well. I got a different experience. I reported like 12 sites into a single category. They removed just one of them. These site weren't spam nor parked domains, but they shouldn't be there according to the guidelines.

since you and me aren't capable to be editors , so enough dumb to read and understand couple pages of '' guidelines '' I think we don't have to comment if that links must be here or not .... more experienced and smart peoples shall handle all this :)

Funny thread. I have been trying to get my website listing in the furniture section of DMOZ for about 2 years now. I am kind of thinking it is about impossible.

I hear the bribe thing all the time. I just couldn't do something like that if it were illegal. Paying for a listing is one thing, but bribing the backdoor seems wrong.

'' wrong '' & '' right '' concept's are forgotten by most of the peoples who have anything to do with the directory and hardly to think they will reverse it back ... This guys it's seems are just '' puppets '' on right hands .... most of them have no clue what means spam , some of them have no idea or they pretend have no idea about seo ... and so on ... well at least some of them know how to copy/paste ...

Furthermore, bribing a DMOZ editor can't be illegal because you won't break any law in the process. Something is illegal if there is a law which prohibits the action. There are such laws for bribing government agents. But a DMOZ editor isn't even an employee.
