Tarmac.me

I purchased this domain a while back now, in the hope of it being an investment.

From what I understand- .me domains are not worth very much. However with a 1 word domain Or 2 if you include 'me', could this actually be worth something?

I've tried many free appraisal sites, and got mixed results, so thoght I'd see what you guys think.

    It's currently parked through SEDO.

Thanks for any advice you can give. I've never sold a domain before.

.me domains only seem to do well as domain hacks, I haven't really seen any non-hacks do well in auctions. I'm not so sure about this one, as I dont know what on earth it could ever be used for.

    Sorry- new to all this.

    What are 'domain hacks'?

Reason I bought it was because TARMAC ME sounded quite good. Based with the fact the largest Tarmac people in the world (Tarmac), own most of the other domains.. I bought it thinking they may eventually want to purchase this one.

However I don't want to seem desperate by approaching them first.

Just trying to get a rough price on what I should be expecting to sell this for really.

I had someone contact me through Sedo within 1 day of parking it with them, and was offered $20,000 USD, but he wanted an 'Independant appraisal'. After he sent me a few sites where I could get one from, I was kind of put off as they sites were using free hosting etc, and looked very poor.

That made me think that he maybe owned those appraisal sites, and was in actual fact trying to make money out of me.

Maybe I was silly not to go for it anyway, but- I do still have his emails if I need to get back in contact with him.

This domain does not seem to fit the .me extension very well in my opinion. I think the only .me's worth registering are ones that fit the extension like advertise.me etc.

Free auto-appraisal sites are all a joke, use them for novelty purposes only.

As to the value of this name, I don't see value to it. The extention isn't good plus "tarmac", what development potential/enduser potential does it have? Very little.

    Thanks everyone for your input.

So I guess I'll auction it off, and hope to get back what I paid for it.

I just assumed owning a catchy domain like this may have appealed to the company 'Tarmac'-

    http://www.tarmac.co.uk/
    http://www.tarmac.com/

    ...Guess I was wrong.

Now I'm not sure whether I should auction it off and try to get back what it cost me, or keep it as it earns about $1 per month in click revenue (Been parked for about 2 months only).

What's your opinions? And if I choose to auction it- should I auction it through Sedo, or is there a better place to auction it off?

If it had appeal to them they would take it and you would get nothing for it.

Sorry but I don't understand how they could 'take' it, and give me nothing for it.

    I own it.

Please can you elaborate on this?

Like I said- I've never bought and sold domains before, so it's all a learning curve to me.

If you consider doing the auction thing go with Sedo. This is the best place for beginners because they help you through the transfer and will answer any questions you have. But in my opinion it's not worth very much so don't get your hopes up.

your problem is that its .me, i mean, nearly every domain thats not com is usually not worth anything, .me domains are new, and don't really sell for much now unless you got something like me.me, or L.me/LL.me
