Wouldn't a Thank You Button be splendid for DP?

I have always thought about the reasons for why a THANK YOU button is missing in DP.Yes of course the rep button is there - but i think thank you button is much more better and in fact would increase the user participation [i feel more people would thank when a genuine or good opinion is posted by someone] - that is guaranteed. What do you think?

As you already said that Reputation button is always there for that purpose so no need of another form of thank you IMO.

IMO, itcoll is right. It is much better if DP add the thank you button or a karma feature. Just a suggestion. It makes all member participate and share their opinion/ideas more..

Isn't a "thank you" system the same as reputation?

Most people, including myself when i was a newbie, tend to forget to hit the rep button even when a very cool, useful and honest opinion is posted.I guess this could improve the interaction in this forum IMO.

ya its same. But don't you think a "thank you" button is very much visible when placed below the forum posting? That would lead to people pressing it when a useful opinion is in fact posted.I am very sure this will lead to more interaction IMO.

ya exactly. It would be better if renamed as Thank you Instead of rep.But once again that is my opinion. All i need is to place it below the post :D

And it would also be cool to show the names of people who pressed the Thank you button or at least show the number of people who pressed it - i know that this is shown by some more forums.I got the idea from those places - but i think most people would agree that it definitely increases interaction although showing the names of posters who pressed the button is of no use.

Yes, the forum will be very cool if "Thank you" button is visible in the post including the number of members who thanked that member. Not just the color green and red.. It is just also my opinion. Thanks..

    I'm superb agree with you..
Only one the bad side of Digitalpoint forums is it missing 'Thanks' button.
Because, on my mind, Thanks button will gave more spirit to us to sharing all of own known here... :)

Is it possible to show the rep points received for a post right below the post? This way I would remember who to rep? Am I making any sense? :)

Perhaps the members are looking for a better or different reputation image, maybe a [IMG] image replacing the existing would be more widely understood.

The "Thank You" system is different from the Rep system. In the Rep system there is Green for positive points and Red for negative points. With the "Thank You" system, the user id giving the "Thank You" rep is placed below the post, and has no negative connotations behind it.

Personally, I would like to see the Rep system abolished and replaced with the "Thank You" system. I had two nasty Red rep in my User CP today, and I have no idea who or why would anyone do it. The fact that it is anonymous is the reason why anyone can leave nasty comments and get away with it. Surely that does not contribute to a positive user experience?

I would like the rep system go away too. The only rep that is leaved nowadays is red. Only people who get green are the ones who already have 11 blobs (So that the rep leaver can hope to get 10 points back) :|

Thank you system is better. Since its public users will desist from leaving thanks for uneccasary posts.

Most of us have had red rep, it soon gets replaced by green, unless the user deserves more.

The rep feature works in place of the “Thank you” with the added bonus of “No Thanks” (-Rep)

I’m not sure why a forum would want/need both. If someone makes a useful/helpful post, I more than happy to leave them rep. If someone is posting lots spam/crap it’s clear as members will leave –rep (Lots of –rep = Red reputation) and it’s easy to indentify.

    Thanks Brian

I understand your point of view. But unfortunately, the forum doesn't run in an Utopian way. You get green because you already have 11 blobs. Most of the time red is given out for no obvious reasons and is accompanied by filthy anonymous comments. NOT Good. Why does the forum want to give its members the privilage to abuse anonymously?

My fiance got these nasty Red rep comments:

Why are people allowed to get away with filthy comments as these? I am all for removal of rep system.
