Let's say you want to start a site that offers exactly what YouTube has to offer, how would you go about advertising it so that you can actually tear youtube down? Yeah!
offer to pay $5 for every video submitted besides that, without millions to advertise with, I'd say high explosives
It is very difficult to compete against a website such as you tube. The best way is to do something or offer something which they do not. Perhaps starting a niche video site would fair better than going after a site such as you tube.
Well if you can get your website name ingrained into the minds of young children, you'll be golden. I have some younger cousins and ALL they talk about it Youtube this, youtube that, youtube is the greatest.
Do you have 10 million to invest? if not, don't bother trying to compete. The only thing you can do is target a specific niche and go at it from that angle. Keep in mind that YouTube is owned by Google, they'll keep them at the forefront when it comes to a general area to place videos.
You want to be a real competitor to YouTube? Who are your investors and how much money and resources do you have? I would use your site over YouTube if you somehow made a deal with music companies to allow users to use their songs and not mute them like YouTube does. I do not like YouTube mainly because they mute your video if you use music from popular artists. Also, YouTube is getting slower and slower when it gets to uploading your videos and updating their info. Who can blame them when 70,000 videos are uploaded each day and this will grow even more when more people get their hands on digital camcorders - hint: the new iPod nano.
1st Focus on a niche of youtube you like. 2nd Add what you think it is missing. 3rd Offer an incentive for posting on your site. 4th Do what dOrhk said brain wash I mean make it catchy.
It does not matter whether youtube is owned by google or not? if you have a new concept and right marketing strategy you site will definitely succeed. Ofcourse you should have enough money to get the word out.
the only way would be to pay users like around 1 usd for every video they submit. lol thats the only way youtube will go down.
Adsense revenue sharing is where its at. Youtube does this through the partner program - but not a lot of people know about it. When you talk money, people listen. What you can do is offer a greater percentage of the shared revenue. Lets say youtube splits the funds 50:50. You could do something like 60:40 - and give the video publisher 60% of the adsense revenue. When I look for a video sharing site to upload my videos to, I first look for revenue sharing sites.
You offer advantages that prove you are better. How can you outdo YouTube? Not being a copyright hardass is a good start :V (By that I mean respect copyright, but recognize fair use rights.)
you want to compete with youtube hahaha GOOD LUCK!!!! youtube is the google of the video sites it is like the 3rd most visited website on the internet I hope you got millions of dollars
I don't know... that's a pretty lofty goal. That's like trying to create a search engine bigger than google!
YouTube does not lose money every day. It's a myth. Have you seen how many ads they have? Also, it is a way to advertise their own products like Google Chrome browser. YouTube may not bring them a lot of money, but they certainly are not losing money with it. People said Digg.com was losing money, and now they changed their story. Once they put ads on Digg, they started making some nice money as they get a lot of traffic.
http://www.smh.com.au/technology/bi...money-but-does-google-care-20090617-chhl.html Youtube DOES lose money. Digg is far different than youtube ... video requires a lot more space and bandwidth to operate than text.
