Setup fees just keep scammers and spammers out. Nothing wrong with that. If you have a genuine product or service you want to sell 2co is the way to go. Yes, their fees are higher than other merchants but it's the whole get what you pay for argument I think.
I completely agree on this. PayPal is far more better and you save the set up fees. Who cares, that Pakistan isn't offered by PayPal.
It in no way keep scammers & spammers away. They can just use stolen credit card and ID. 2co can't stop them or even stop fraudulent payments from going through. 2co won't even know it until someone report it days later. Scammers/Spammers already got what they want. Who know exactly what the fees are? I'm pretty sure not cheap. Doesn't matter if it is a genuine product (tv, cellphone, web hosting, domain name, web scripts, anything) or not.. scammers/spammers don't care.
As for me Iam in Nigeria and Paypal dont accept us even though there are Good and successfull internet marketers here, we only use 2checkout but some use Alertpay too
I personally moved to 2checkout for various reasons. It was its ups and downs but all up I think it's better. I currently own an online business and live in Australia. I get many charge backs, who use hacked PayPal and then the orginial owners come and retrieve to money. I have been limited 3 times over the past year. I also had to provide details regarding my business, i didn't have an ABN number nor my business was registered. And that was the last time I saw PayPal, they stole over $2000 from me. There are some issues with 2checkout. But most of the time it seems to do it job and a bit more. I don't have any hassles with PayPal charge-backs. There is a higher fee on 2checkout. They provide a fraud detector where if your address isn't the same as your IP, your order won't be accepted. This helped me find over 9/100 fakers per month. They also provide you with a credit card and ability to transfer to bank various ways.
Thanks for all comments. Im not planing to use 2CO in my own business. I can also recommend moneybookers as an alternative to Paypal, lower fees better exchange rates for European buyers.
I personally like 2Checkout and I use it, they do their own fraud check when people pay and make your business look more 'Trust Worthy' because when you first get an account with them they call pick some random clients that paid you to call and verify they have received their product that you sold them. I also have not had a single chargeback since I started using 2Checkout.
Yes many people praise their anti fraud system and i guess that one of reasons why their fees are so high. But paypal is doing a great job too to fight fraud. Since i started using PP, i have not had a single problem with fraud. Once the money are payed or cleared if someone use e-check or back transfer, the money are in my account and are mine, i ship the order and thats it. I had a couple of disputes but they all resolved, and i feel Paypal would stand on my side in case of a long dispute, after all i have proof that order has been sent and not received.
I have several websites, but most of the products that I offer have very small profit margins. Even small fees at checkout from paypal, etc can cut into the small profit. What other services are available to minimize my overhead at checkout?
Several posts in this thread specifically reference chargeback. Can you someone explain chargeback more in depth? What are some of the best ways to avoid chargeback when utilizing paypal at checkout? I offer reputable products, but want to safeguard profits as much as possible.
Paypal does Nothing to fight fraud except to take the sellers money and blame them for getting a fraud payment. I went months without accepting Paypal because of the High risk of accepting payments through them until I found 2Checkout. When buying something online if the seller/business only accepts Paypal I will look else were.
I had a problem when signing up to 2checkout. I was dropshipping and they wanted to know If i kept the stock , anyone else had this problem ?
Just Answer the question as truthfully as you can if you need some clarification just open up a support ticket or call them up. I wouldn't recommend you contact the Livechat because they are normally over loaded.
Hmm, i have not experienced this kind of problem so i cant really comment on that. But i had hard time proving PP that i was i, after i reached certain limit of receive payment, and that can be pain in the ass. After several faxes ,emails and days they finally approved my business account and i have been using it for several years with no interruption from PP. I would say it is the cost having a save system and that too is one way to fight fraud and money laundering. And if you say PP is not on sellers side but on buyers, why would you turn down a shop offering PP as payment, does not make sense. I guess you and others had bad experience with PP, and are so pissed of that you feel ill just seeing their logo. I say every payment system have their pros and cos, but to sat that PP is doing Nothing to fight fraud is a bit exaggerated. If your are legit and can prove it to PP you should be fine, if not you better look for other payment system.
That Statement about paypal doing Nothing to protect Sellers from fraud is not exaggerated at all it is nothing but the truth. Paypal is the leading Contributor to Fraud online and all they do is take the money from Honest sellers and give it back to the people that ripped you off. I have been after 2Checkout to give a option to not allow payments from buyers using paypal for the last 6 months and they say they are working on that option so I am hopeful. When the option comes available I will disable payments using paypal for all my online businesses because of the high Fraud rate. I am willing to take the slight risk of losing customers by not accepting paypal but in my opinion if I don't accept paypal even if it is though 2checkout it will be better in the long run. I have had my problems with paypal I was limited once and only once I basically just told them to PISS OFF. Their Brainless support and business Ethics is just completely pathetic. FYI to anyone reading this Everything was legit that I provided them with I had no complaints against me other then a few Chargebacks.
