    Yeah those huge companies suck ass

    I love Name.com for my domain registrar

    And I like 1and1's hosting, but don't host domain / order domain from them. Pain in the ass trying to do transfer

    I like A1Web Solution because you can talk to them for whatever price you can afford ... Love their Server, fast and affordable!

    I personally feel Yahoos services (Email & Hosting, etc) are bad.. I've had 0 success with any of the things they offer, I like 1and1 aswell.

    Agree with the consensus here on Yahoo, but I've never been super fond of 1and1 either. I still have used them consistently for years, but for the reason you state that they are bad: their domains. Their domains *were* cheap (they've risen the price, but it is still competitive I guess), but the main thing more important than saving a few dollars on my domains is that their domain registration panel is extremely easy for me to use and I often use web hosts whose domain registration services are far more expensive, bulky and hard to use. But their customer service was abymsal the last time I called I had to wait almost an hour only to get an outsourced (indian) service rep. But you can't complain at their prices, you get what you pay for.

    Yahoo, 1and or Godaddy. All the biggies have few things common: propritory control panel that sucks, poor support.

    For hosting, smaller specialized companies like hostgator or liquidweb are far better options.

    Not solved, and contract period also over with Yahoo!.....

    I have shooten ennumber of mails resulting in no responce....

    Above that, they have sent a mail to me to renew hosting account...

    Does not they belong to breed other than humans???:rolleyes:

    Yes, Yahoo is overpriced, other webhosts are taking very little prices and giving it back ( or even more than that ) to referrers..
    I dont know where they earn from ..

    I think yahoo is for people that are new to hosting and need something simple. It's probably alright for static html page hosting. But now with php database driven sites there are probably not so good. Same with godaddy, they are good for static html, or very simple php scripts but they have a lot of limitations and crappy support. Godaddy does have cheap domain registration though.

    Most of the big hosting companies really pack other accounts on a server, too many accounts on one server slows things down for everyone else. Those cheap hosts that offer unlimited everything for $3-$5 per month need to pack lots of accounts on the server just to pay for the thing. But even the $5-$10 ones are known to put too many on a server too.

    Anyway usually the cheapies you usually get what you pay for. Sometimes you get lucky and other sites on a server are small and little traffic. Other times you get someone chewing up all the resources.
