Long term? you can still benefit from it since you'll be getting backlinks. You can get instant traffic and also benefit from it in the long run.

Blog commenting is also a way to get backlinks from .edu sites. It can even help increase your PR if you commented on dofollow sites.

I didn't post the article here to avoid being detected by Google as duplicate. I just want to share it and I'm open to learn new things that I've missed about it.

Many people do blog commenting for the purpose of search engine recognition only, they would just as well find only the do-follow blogs to comment on. Theres only a random chance of somebody visiting your page from a comment you left on another site. UNless your comment was something insightful and made it look like you know what you are talking about. OTOH there are sites that dont let you add your website URL. So what does the commenter get in return for spending his time and effort crafting up an acceptable comment? Just to make his own ideas, and expressed opinions become known? What a dull barter that goes nowhere.

Further is the concept of sites that annoy me because they require registration to comment. People already have lots of passords to manage and remember. Nobody wants to take the time and effort to register to your site just for the purpose of being able to comment on your posts. Why dont people understand that fact.

Another annoying thing is the sites that ask you to use 'real name' for blog comments. Pleez Why? It is the prerogative of the commenter to choose what name or id he chooses to expose to the world, and cant be dictated by the blog owner. Then blog owner argues that it is his blog that carries the comments so he has right to choose what names their commenters are using.

Yes - blog commenting is a good way to get free traffic.

However, think about it as adding value to people's sites and don't spam people's sites.

Add lots of good quality content and participate in the conversation.

You will then naturally get traffic as people are interested in what you are saying.

Some good points there. Also, you'll get some quality backlinks especially if you are commenting on high PR/traffic websites.

Blog comment can be a powerful strategy if we throw some good value comment not the crappy one.

Yes, it is also a good way of achieving traffic but not that much I believe. When I do blog commenting my intention is not traffic but backlinks.

I don't think you can generate high traffic with blog commenting. May be one or two clicks for a single blog comment.

As far I know, blog comments could be used in order to get additional traffic to your website(s). However, manual submissions take lots of time, so if you are serious about blog commenting, you should get automated blog comment poster software. Otherwise it will be just a waste of time.

Also you should NOT spam blogs heavily (no matter if you do it manually or using software) because comments posting is comments posting, and spam is spam...

No, blog commenting onl can generate very less traffic to your site.
If you want to get traffic, forum posting and yahoo answer work better.
Blog commenting, i mean dofollow blog is good for SEO

Well, if you comment on thousands of blogs, you can also get a hell of traffic. Unfortunately, most of persons will consider it as spamming :)

Same here, when I do blog commenting, my target is backlinks as well and not much on the traffic. If I built enough backlinks, traffic will surely come because i'll rank higher in SEs.

I agree, you usually don't get much traffic from it but this is a great way to get backlinks from high PR/traffic websites.
