I think my website is being penalized by google, because when i type in the exact website into google search engine, mine doesnt come up until like 10. example "www.my-url.com" and I didn't get ranked until ten.

How can i fix this if I don't know whats wrong?

This is quite natural even when your website is not been penalized. May be, the URL you have, contains highly competitive keywords (or, some renouned websites have almost same url). Just for an example, if your domain name is web-hosting.br or google-website.cn. The first one contains highly competitive keywords and you need to digg a lot to get a break in top 10. And the second one contains the term Google, you'll always see 8-9 out of 10 results are coming from Google.com (or Google based services).

This is very common for domains with few or no inbound links. Get a few links to your site with your domain or URL as the link text. You'll be there in no time.

Build more backlinks so that your website would appear at the initial search engine results.. Other websites targeting similar keywords might have surpassed you.. :)

Does it still work that way if I search "www.tastychickenrecipe.com" and that specific website doesn't come up first? meaning.. if I do that search under google, why doesn't "www.tastychickenrecipe.com" come up first under the search engine?

You got 159 pages from your website indexed in google.

I just checked with http://www.seopenalty.com/ and there are slight penalty involved for your site but I don't know where it begins.

You don't have copyspace issue there.

    You can try check http://www.bad-neighborhood.com/text-link-tool.htm
I notice that 2 links that you are linking might be bad neighbourhood (as the total number of outgoing links on that page are more than 100). Linking to link farms may get us penalty too.

This is odd, but may happen. First of all, your site is listed on 1st position when searched for www.tastychickenrecipe.com. So don't worry. Secondly, your site is not using www. So, carefully build links and try to avoid using www in links, if you're not using it. It make great sense to SEO. Thirdly, when you search for www.tastychickenrecipe.com, a suggestion is shown, "Did you mean...". I guess, you're worried with this. This is not an issue. Once 40-50 pages from your site gets crawled by google and 40-50 backlinks for your site becomes available, google will stop showing the suggestion.

Try to get quality backlinks and try to increase your site's Pagerank and you will see your site come up in the SERPs more often.
