I am going to show you the step by step efforts I take to set up a wallpaper site and try and turn it into an $100 dollars a day business.

I am going to give it my best shot. This is quite a saturated market but I love a challenge (need your support and encourage).

Every day I will post an update on the site and what I have been up too. I would love it if you gave me feedback on what I have missed etc and how I can improve.

I will be posting all the methods I will use including traffic methods as this is the Marketing section. Again any feed would be much appreciated.

The site will be fundesktopwallpaper.com. This is to help newbie’s and the old pro’s as I feel this is the best way for us to learn by real examples.

My suggestion would have been to call it "Bikini-Wallpaper-for-free.com or something like that. Bikini wallpaper is the highest searched term and a click from that from AdSense would give you a pretty penny.

Hmm.. Maybe I'll try that myself :)

    Thanks for the replies.

The first step before setting up any website is to do keyword research and make sure there is a market with a good search rate. I would usually look for a market that gets at average 3000 searches a month and has little or no competition.

There are many keyword tools on the net but my favourite is Keyword discoveries free keyword tool (and you can even sign up for a free trial). In the past I used Google keywords and found them to be a little off with their average search estimates and I also tried the Word Tracker free tool which again was a bit wayward and less precise.

So as I am setting up a wallpaper site. I search for wallpapers on keyword discovery this brings up a lot of results. Remember we are looking for niches so the word ‘wallpaper’ is too genetic and has too much competition on Google, over 107 million searches.

So I now have to reassess what specify market I would like to enter. Under the search term wallpaper I notice a few gems, but more specific I notice naruto wallpaper (an anime site with a lot of fans), psp wallpaper, and nature wallpaper. All of these terms get searched around 3000 times a month.

The competition on each three of the keywords is quite high with psp wallpapers being the lowest at 10 million search results. This is rather high so I continue looking and then I find my gem the keyword ‘abstract wallpapers’ it has under 858,000 websites as competition. The search is a bit lower at 1574. But it is a real niches and finding keywords and content will be a lot easier as I only have to concrete on abstract art.

I also check how high the top sites under abstract wallpapers are by using Alexa site info, this gives me an idea of the potential site of the market.

The next stage is too choose a domain name. I want to make sure I have the keywords in the domain name, this means the site carries a greater weight in the search ratings.

Now I head over to Godaddy web hosting (I have been with them for years) and see if the keywords abstract wallpaper are available. As I expected the main extensions would be taken, however these is one more extension I like to use and that is .biz. It may be harder to rank but if you do your research you will find that a lot of .biz sites are very high.

Also for those who are not sure about .biz look at this ‘There are no specific legal or geographic qualifications to register a biz domain name, except that it must be for "bona fide business or commercial use" from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.biz.

If you are unsure about .biz just make sure you pick name that is not a major trademark as your domain name.

Anyway I decided to purchase abstractwallpaper.biz as this domain has the keywords.

My aim is to rank number 1 on Google under abstract wallpaper

Tomorrow I will post how I designed my site.

    P.S
Also let me make it clear you can’t just rely on Google to bring you in the traffic you need a wide range of traffic sources so if Google does not bring me the traffic there are other alternatives ways to getting traffic.

So I will not just be using long tail keywords which are very good for article sites.

I will ony use free traffic methods no PPC so every one can use these tactics.

    Questions:

killadiver No I will not be selling wallpapers, it is much easier to get traffic when you are giving something away free.

dukeofism In two weeks 12th of October - deadline and factchecker thanks for the advice.

have you reach $100 a day with your wallpaper site? of course it need thousand clicks from your ads to get that amount of money per day because wallpapers niche always have small cpc, i get around $0.02-0.05 with this type of website. another cons are this site will need great source and bandwith.

Since I using DP anyone who can design good logo for the site pm and I will add a backlink to your site on my home page.

Anyway adsense is not the only way of generating income. It is when you concertate on adsense only that is were the problem begins.

But no I have just started so within two weeks I hope to be making at least $100 dollars a day..

You are going to make $3000 per month on a wallpaper site? Will you show proof of your journey? Things such as adsense/advertising screen shots and traffic data? I am interested to see how you do and how quickly you can do it.
