I would like to give up smoking altogether, but as much as people bug me to it has to be when I'm ready, or it will never work.

There's nothing I like more after a hard day of slapping my wife than the cool sea breeze of a Malboro cigarette.

    This is man country, bitch.

Used to smoke quit at christmas. I do miss them and love to have a couple while out drinking! One thing I never got was why non smokers feel it is their duty to tell smokers what to do and why it is bad for them. We all know this already, and though it might be a waste of money to a non smoker it isnt to a smoker. Being on both sides of the smoking "fence" I can say that while I do feel healthier for quitting, I do miss them!!

Smoking is a bad addiction.. I used to smoke since I`m 12.. this is my worst habbit, but I just can't leave it...I tried more than 10 times ..hell its so hard.. one pack/day ever since I smoke..

Nonsmokers never even think about smoking please:(

    But once I'll quit smoking....I promise..once..

I agree Denise it definitely has to be when your ready! I think I'm pretty much ready but man it's hard when life is so stressful.

I'm hoping that some day soon I quit.

I ride to work with my husband every day, in bumper to bumper traffic, at an average speed of 70 - 80 mph. Now that's not only more dangerous, but also a good reason to have a smoke once the car has stopped!:D

All smokers know it's dangerous, and lethal. But do we really know that it will kill us? Dana Reeves died of lung cancer and never smoked. I could be hit by lightning before smoking kills me. I could smoke till I'm 80, and not die from smoking. Just my opinion.

I do plan to quit one day, as most smokers do. For now, it's just something I do to calm my mind - self-medication. It's a mind-fu*k more than a physical need.

I'm pretty much the same way. I don't feel any physical addiction for cigarettes; it's more of a mental thing for me. I can go for days without a cigarette and not experience the typical withdrawal symptoms, but I don't choose to because I enjoy the feeling I get from smoking. It's bad for you, but a lot of things are. I'll quit one day, but until then people should just get over it :p

Most of the time I hear someone refer to "hicks", they are referring to Southerners, which I am. I have been seen as a "hick" because of my Southern accent before, and have been asked by a 45-year-old man from Wisconsin, "where'd you get that stupid accent". I am a little sensitive when I hear words like "hick" and "hillbilly", as most of the time they are meant to be harmful. I was nearly offended.:)
