Totally with you on this one. Heck, the White House hired Tony Snow.
    That speaks volumes.

BBC and PBS affiliate shows are the only ones on TV worth watching. Everything else is entertainment or scaremongering.

Someone mentioned Al jazeera. I watched Control Room a few months ago - - great film.

Am I wrong to assume that most of the above is tax-funded news...?

Or has some sort of bias towards tax funds...? Despite news being used by both parties since the dawn of the media (of any kind), I wouldn't want any agency having that power via a government.

The BBC is a public organisation incorporated under a royal charter which requires it to be free of political and commercial influence answering only to the public.

The best channel to get "true news" is anything that doesn't come on your television set. I get all my news online from alternative sources. Anything that comes from a big corporation is usually garbage.

Yes, PBS receives some government funding.

For some reason I thought you lived in the US. Anyway, PBS is not controled by the government (yet! - they're still fighting it).

And they don't have a bias towards tax funds. Although I'm not quite sure what you mean by that.

You can get some info on PBS here.

Rob, I have been to different places around the world including the States and I found that PBS was probably the best but in saying that I havent found much flaw in our own Irish news of course I would say that.

Fox, ABC and CNN are a complete joke for the most part.

    I do.
Really...I knew nothing about that...any link for a story...?

Let's say I've watched PBS many times, and I've seen numerous liberal biased shows (can't recall the names). I don't mind non-profit agencies, but I dislike those agencies feeding of the tax dollar.

Mind you, I actually like watching PBS at times.

The only fair and balanced news is "Rush Limbaugh".

I had the same opinion before I listened to his show. He is a conservative, not a republican, imho.

The best news channel is the '''Look through your own eyes and believe channel''' :D

And btw, it is live 24/7.

Rush is one of the biggest hypocrites in the entertainment business.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was gay. :p :p

Honestly though, I have enjoyed his show the few times I've heard it.

I thought I saw rush at that pool party :p

I can only take Rush in small doses, personally. If you listen every day, the program just repeats the same thing over and over. I like Glenn Beck more. I can't stand Hannity, though, for some reason. The talk radio station here runs some guy at 7 pm now, not sure of his name, but I kinda like him. On the days I work at the office real late, its something to listen to.

Rush runs good parodies (the fake commercials) all the time and those are always a hoot.

Too bad football is back, so now I gotta listen to sports radio now; as I need my daily dose of Bucs coverage (16-3 win over the JETS on Friday, thank ya very much). F O O T B A L L !
