okay i run a blog.. and its not really about anything inparticlar so i only picking up adverts on blogs that dont paywell. so ive made aload of posts about Viagra webhosting and mortgages because i understand adverts from this area pay the most.. but so far.. im not seeing any change in my adverts.. do i need to wait for a spider to call or should it be instantanous?
Do you run your blog at blogger? What ads do you get? Sometimes blogger has got ads about blogging not about your topic, mostly at start.
Your best bet is creating relevant Meta Keywords, Meta Descriptions, and making use of Google's Section Targeting https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=23168 It can take a while to kick in, but works fairly well.
most of the books on adsense ive read seem to say that meta tags are more or less useless and its all about content.. i only changed my content about 5 hours ago.. so ill see if theres any change in the morning.
I was about to give you a list of tips, but then I actually looked at your blog. That huge block of keyword spamming isn't going to do you any good, and will probably loose your readership too. I recommend that you focus on the keywords that your readers will actually be interested in, rather than whatever high paying ones you happen to discover. Cryo.
Urghhh man, that site is really an ugly one; and as "Cryogenius" have already said, this "keyword spamming/stuffing" is (at least) a very sneaky/blackhat tactic ... tayiper
im just testing out seeing how keywords effect content.. my sites not going to remain like that. dont worry folks. i havent just made my website to make money and infact the subject ive chosen to base my blog on isnt very comercialy viable.. but ive chosen it anyway because epistemology is somthing that greatly interests me.
There is one problem already. Blogs can be sometimes difficult to get the right ads and mixing up your topics will only led to more irrelevant ads. With blogging there is no point in having one post about Viagra and the next post about mortgages and so on. I suggest you stick with one of those topics on for the blog and cover the subject in-depth. Open another two blogs to cover the other the other topics if need be. If you need to have those three topics on the one blog then try to make a number of posts about one topic and then move onto the next. For example for five or so days post about Viagra and the next five post about hosting and so on but this does not mean you will get great ad results. Make sure you use the categories correct, placing the post into one or two categories should be enough. Get a plugin that creates keyword tags for each post and make sure to use your post titles to your advantage. Personally I would create three different blogs for each of those topics and keep each of them relevant to the topic you will see better results.
http://www.thekn0wledge.com looking at the effect of meta tags now.. so i removed my content spam. my site is trying to be simlar to that of lifehacker.com or daminteresting.com - they already stole one of my posts ! after i asked them for a link exchange. so theres no real niche.. im thinking i might have to think again now. at the moment adsense isnt even covering the hosting costs.
Cool buddy! your blog suggests that its your first month on that blog and might be its not a long time since you were approved by adsense. At start people are having very high hopes but its never easy for most of new webmasters to make $100 mark within short period. Be patient and work more over it and start some other project when you have put sufficient material over your bolg!
To be honest those topics are not the best to blog about as you are up against experienced spammers so your blog would really have to stand out to make a difference and earn money. My advice, look at things that interest you and see if there is room for another blog on that topic. You can be sure that if your interested in something there are thousands of others out there that is interested too. Go to a keyword check and start running searches on these ideas and see how many people run searches on them. For example lets say you had an interest in BMX bikes, if you look at the keyword look-up and see there was 100,000 searches last month then you know you have a good topic. Also run a Google seach on BMX bikes and see if any Adsense ads come up either in Google or someone else's site. If they do come up then you know you can at least generate some money and I bet it will pay your hosting costs. You really need to pick a topic that every tom, dick & harry isnt trying to make money from. When you come up with an idea Google it and see how many sites are on that topic and how big the players actually are. *edit* Actually is thekn0wledge.com yours? I just had a quick look and I like it, looks clean and there is some interesting posts. Just another tip, make use of your post titles as it will help grab peoples attention but also will help in the Search Engines. As ravianz these things can take time so be patient and just keep adding good content, if possible make at least one post every 1-2 days (its difficult but can be rewarding). Good luck with the Blog.
Hi, Ive had a look at your blog and first thing that comes to mind is the clean design and layout, keep it up. Your adsense ads will be pretty general and low paying until your blog categories get bigger and more defined. For the first three month you should just concentrate on writing good content that attracts visitors. Once you've got more content then you will find better ads and hopefully better profit. Some of your ads are already linked to your posts, i'm seeing ads for ear drops, 'become a police officer' and drug testing. At the moment you dont have ads on each category page, have you tried putting some ads up?
Make use of bold and italics to emphasise your keywords (but keep it subtle), and also add some related external links with good anchor text. Cryo.
thanks for all the feedback. I am noticing the adverts within my actual articles and not the general bl0g page are much more directed to whats in the content and ive noticed this with other sites. The type of adsense advert you get seems to be more to do with what you don't have than what you do. let me explain.. if you have an article about cats.. you will get adverts for cat food. But if you have an article about cats and another article about dogs.. you dont get adverts about either cat food or dog food. You just get nothing.. or general blog adverts. They cancel each other out. I think im gonna have to niche down my subjects and not talk about anything else.
If you have a pages about cat food and dog food then you should throw in keywords such as 'pet supplies'. That way google will know exactly which ads to display. So under your heading for 'Cat food xxxxxxxxxx' you should put related key words in bold 'pet supplies' and 'pet care'. Try and include those keywords in the actual blog post aswell, as long as they seem natural. And as Cryogenius says place a couple of out bound links that link to pr6+ pages related to each post. You know like, 'you can read more about cat food here'. links to wikipedia always seem to help. Hope this helps.
That a great tip there mistermix and one we should all consider for our own topics. One thing you will notice complience you'll start getting ads relating to posts that were done days before so if you can try and keep track of what your posting. What I do is paste every url into a spread sheet with the date and post title which actually comes in useful if I want to link back to a previous related post.
