Hi, Just wondering if direct linking is allowed in adwords. For example if i were to put my cpa offer as the URL that it takes the person to? Or even my clickbank hoplink. Is this allowed?
Yes, it is. In fact, given recent developments, I would recommend it instead of to your own page with your affiliate links.
Yes, but you have to be the only one doing it on a KW. Google only displays one URL per query, so if 5 people are direct linking only one will show.
Yes only one ad is allowed per domain. So if the advertiser or other affiliates are bidding only one ad gets through - the one with the highest combination of bid and quality score. So it can make it tough.
> Good point, but then there's the issue of bad quality score. QS is under your control so what's the issue? > Yes, but you have to be the only one doing it on a KW. You may even lock the others out. Tough? Maybe if an AM already has a great ad for that same offer. Forces you to be better.
thanks a lot for the answers. One more question. If I, created a index.php file and made it redirect to the site with the affiliate hop link.. would that be a way to bypass the "one URL" thing?
Unless, I've misinterpreted the thread, QS takes landing page into consideration so if you're direct linking to the Merchant page, this is out of your hands. Linking to your website and then preselling the product, before linking to the Merchant site is the way I would do it. You'll gain more trust and can have an opt-in list too, for future, repeat marketing.
Although it's allowed, why are you planning to do this?It will definitely affect your quality score and add your cost. Therefore, from a long view, you should avoid this as possible as your can.Try to make it more associated.
> QS is under your control so what's the issue? Yes, of course, you can't control the landing page but you control the rest - keywords and ads - which should be related to the landing page. > would that be a way to bypass the "one URL" thing? There is no way to bypass this rule.
Seconded. As lots of people says, 'money is on the list' That's a great thing to make a recurring online income..
The money may indeed be in the list. But what do you do if Google doesn't want advertisers to link to a page of affiliate links? I believe Google sees advertisers all promoting the same few affiliates as a poor user experience (a view I agree with BTW). Years ago, they implemented the rule that only one ad per domain was allowed. This latest slap is simply an extension of that. They are forcing advertisers to direct link to the merchant where only one ad per domain will be shown instead of dozens of domains basically trying to sell the same product. I'm actually surprised that AMs would create their own site instead of direct linking. It's much more work and most AMs seem to want to make money as fast and as simple as possible.
You can direct link, but it will heavily affect your QS so it is probably not a good idea unless you have the cash and time to test, test and test
