Ok I'm currently developing and testing my site for user login. The user login function was working til I installed the Alpharecommend component from Alphaplug. So I figured uninstalling it would resolve the problem but it doesn't. Someone help me!

    The error I get says:

My website is www.stockfinancial.info. Use username and password: demo let me know what you get and how I can fix this.

If this happened to me and the index page was not available, I would replace some of the configuration files with known good ones. If this did not help, I would backup and reinstall Joomla. If you reinstall, remember your backend login information.

Hey Blue Star I have another question maybe you can answer...

I'm trying to setup a member subscription system where members will get a trial for 14-30 days after it will charge a monthly or quarterly fee. I've tried Account Expiration Control (AEC) and its suppose to be compatible with joomla 1.5 native but whenever i try to install it the installation takes me to the admin control panel and doesn't install it. Any reason why that would be happening? And if I'm unable to use AEC are there any free(non commercial) alternatives that will do what i need it to do?

    I will suggest the following:
    1. Make sure you get the latest AEC from the website
    2. Try to activate Legacy plugin and install it again
    3. Check what joomla version that AEC support and compare to your joomla version

There is no free alternatives other than AEC and setting AEC to work is not easy also especially because you want to set trial mode, the current AEC not work perfectly for trial mode.
Other component are JSubscription and CB Subscription but they are commercial.

Let me know if you have more questions.

What is the error message you get when you can not install it, if there is one ?
You can try legacy mode as has been suggested, but the folks ( people ) at AEC should provide installation instructions and tell you if you need legacy mode or not.

It is designed for 1.5 ( use this version of Joomla ) and I doubt you will need to activate legacy mode. I could be wrong, but search your documentation or the FAQ at their paid site. I would get the answer for you, but I must pay to get in... One question I have for you is that this AEC plugin may require you to have Community Builder already installed. Is that true ?

I use CB ( Community Builder ) and right below AEC is " CB profile manager " at Joomla.

Jay I can't tell you how many times I made sure the AEC version I downloaded was correct lol and from AEC site and Joomla extensions site they say its compatible for Joomla 1.5 native not legacy...Blue Star I don't get any error messages when installing...after I click on install button it loads to the Joomla Admin Control Panel for my site.

Reading thru the manual again it references joomla 1.5x legacy so they have wrong info on their site. That explains it wonder why the install screen didn't give me that error message. Also I've tried installing CB with no luck either is that joomla 1.5 legacy as well?
