Hi all, I'm trying to set up a goal / funnel in Google analytics, but have been having no luck... any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to set up a funnel with the following steps: 1) any hit on my blog (any page under /blog) 2) a visit to the home page (/ or /index or /index.php) 3) any hit on the main calculation page (any page under /calculator) So an example path to be tracked would be: www.calcatraz.com/blog/some-blog-post www.calcatraz.com/index.php www.calcatraz.com/calculator?c=3+3 And another would be: www.calcatraz.com/blog www.calcatraz.com/blog/some-other-post www.calcatraz.com/index.php www.calcatraz.com/calculator?c=3+3 I'm a developer and familiar with regular expressions, etc., but just haven't been able to get this to work. How would you set this up? Thanks!
I dont think so you need to create goal or funnel. goal or funnel set up is required for check out process or for product sign up process.
No, you can and should use goals and funnels anywhere you want to track some type of activity. If the goal of your site is to get someone to signup for a newsletter than track it. Then you can see if they bail out along the path. I think you need to have a clear conversion path to actually use a funnel. The idea is that you are funneling traffic through a process. In your example above it seems like they can get to the goal through a number of paths. My suggestion is to see if you can get at least a goal created. The goal should just be the destination page. If that works then figure out the path to get to that goal and create the funnel.
