Dedicated IP

Many hosting companies provide dedicated IPs, where your account will be hosted on a seperate IP.
Does anybody know if it's beneficial and will google treat my website better if I use dedicated IP's?

    Thanks for your advice.

With past experience it i believe your website is treated better on a dedicated IP based on website cross linking with other sites on the same ip. I hope you understand what i mean.... LOL

if you cross linking with your other sites that hosted on the same ip,
as i know a directory network lost PR ranking for the all sites due to this issue.

Thank you guys for your replies.
I'm not cross linking my websites and the reason I'm thinking about dedicated IP is to make sure I don't have bad neibourhood.
Thus if I only have my 5 good websites on the same IP I'll have a good neibourhood thus I thought google will treat me better.

I have both also and have never seen much of a difference.
I do prefer a dedicated IP because then there is no doubt.

If your whole network of websites is on the same IP, then it can be viewed as spammy in google. You will not get preferential treatment for this.

I run 7 sites - 3 vulletin forums and 4 wordpress blogs - on a single IP address that is on a dedicated server. All 7 sites rank on the first page of google, 2 of the vbulletin forums rank between 1 - 5 for their targeted keywords.

1 forum that is 3 1/2 years old, it ranks #1 for over a dozen popular keywords in its niche.

1 vbulletin forum and 1 wordpress blog has a massive amount of interlinking, and both of them rank in the top 5 for their keywords.

As far as I'am concerned, all of this talk about each site having its own ip address is a bunch of hog wash.

Agreed. I do hosting and we batch users in groups of 25 on different IP addresses but that's in case we need to move them between servers. It's a lazy way to do load balancing.

We do put our social networking sites (ie elgg, wpmu, etc.) on their own ip addresses. We do that to separate them from other clients and so they aren't lumped together with the social site. (ie "Oh you've got the same ip address as so-and-so wpmu site. You must be hosted by them!")

More a matter of convenience really.

I understand there shouldn't be much of a difference.
It's just I'd like isolate my main websites from others.
Also, would dedicated server make any difference?

Well if you're on a dedicated server, the ip address you'll be using for that server will onkly be used on that server so yes, your sites will be separate from the others.

Would it make any difference? Not really unless you;re doing lots of interlinks between sites as noted up above.
