Nowadays social networks are using shorten links through websites such bit.ly. In my case I have 500+ of those links all around the web, increasing every day. For sure they can’t count as backlinks since the URL is different. Face to this new trend, what is Google doing ?
Not too sure what your question is but the length of a backlink will not affect PR if thats your question.
Page Rank (PR) is the number of links your site has, and quality of the sites that link to your site. So I do not know what you mean by "Do shorten links affect PR"? What do you mean by "shorten links?"
Exactly, that is why I see a problem here. Arent these links, so often used a representation of a website value ? If a website have 10.000 links of this type (e.g. on twitter and similar networks) and no other backlinks, the google PR would be somehow wrong.
most of the major url shorteners e.g. bitly, use a permanent redirect, so it can count as a link for linkbuilding and PR just the same as any link - however - twitter and most other social networks nofollow links - it's not the url shortener that stops them counting toward PR - it's the nofollow
Ty magda for your answer. I wasn't aware of that info about permanet redirects. So if that is true shorten links should not be a problem.
