Well that's very true. The thing is we still have Indians happy that their country have a few billionaires.
If you compare India to most other countries of the world and say that the percentage of poor is quite high then you also have to know some of the reasons behind them. India is a relatively new country which gained independence from the British rule merely 60 years ago and at that time British took almost all the wealth out of India. If you read about ancient civilizations then you will know that Indian civilization had been one of the richest civilizations in the world even before Roman civilization came into being and India was quite rich upto the British occupied India. No offence to the British but almost all the treasures and resources of India were taken by the British for around 2 centuries which left India in a very bad financial shape. India hardly had any money or resources when it it gained independence in 1947 and even to come to terms with other developing economies it had to waste around 4 decades. If you are saying the situation today then you might be surprised that during independence maybe around 99% of citizens were under poverty line. But then it has developed especially in the last two decades and has gained a position where it is one of the most powerful economies after the G7 countries. If you even compare the other BRIC countries or the developed nations then they were independent countries almost throughout their history or were independent centuries ago. Secondly, 2 of the 4 BRIC countries are communist countries and so the distribution of income will surely be better because that is communism. But India is a proper democracy where everybody can grown billionaires if they wish and the govt. never interferes in private businesses of any individual. I am not happy neither sad about the billionaires. I take inspiration from all the successful persons and want to be one myself if possible in the future. But I also am as concerned about the poor people and want to work for their development. But the only solution to eradication of poverty in India is the spread and improvement of modern education. The literacy rate is increasing significantly especially in the past few decades and I can assure you that within the next decade itself you might see almost an end to the poor in India. If the govt. works properly and is dedicated then poverty can surely be eradicated within a decade or so. But the problem is that Indian govt. and Indian politics is also highly corrupted like the rest of the world.
There are billionaries, there are paupers in any countries. There is still a long way to go to make this world more equally rich and happy.
What ppl know about india is less than a drop in the ocean. almost 40% of the money in swiss banks is frm india and its 100% black money scandalous politicians and corrupt IAS, IRS, IPS officers have deposited in foreign banks in their illegal personal accounts a sum of about $ 1500 billion, which have been misappropriated by them. This amount is about 13 times larger than the country’s foreign debt. With this amount 45 crore poor people can get Rs 1,00,000 each. This huge amount has been appropriated from the people of India by exploiting and betraying them. look at this chart Deposits in Banks located in the territory of Switzerland by nationals of following countries Top 5 --- 2008 India---- $1456 billion Russia----- $470 billion UK-------- $390 billion Ukraine $100 billion China------ $96 billion Being an indian i feel really bad coz we have so many who live under poverty, with out proper food and shelter, at the same time look at the money belonging to indians in swiss bank. Indian government will never ever be able to bring that money home coz all the politicians and business men will be behind bars, so it a political game here. Everything here runs only if you pay money , i had to file a complaint in a police station against my creditcard agent coz he faked my signature on my ayment check and the cops told me they cant do anything bcoz the amount in the check is very low 80$ WTF, but still it was a malpractice and against law. Nobody cares. Sorry to bring this up but jus feeling so bad from ages being n these kinda situations. India is a developing country Since independence and it is still a developing country , even after 100 years it will still be a developing country coz of filthy politicians. LOL if you buy a car for 1 million and u see the same car in india means that the indian has bought the same car by paying 2.2 million --- 120% tax on imported cars.
good effort to compile the details. can you also provide the list of those peoples /billionaires along with their major income source etc that would be of great benefit for us
This is interesting , India just one billionaire short . Just if we had a stable HONEST government , we would be far off at the moment !

The richest Indian has the world in his fists, and Indians under it's toes. And how his father always claimed to take the average Indian along with him.
Frankly speaking although I used to adore Dhirubhai but I dont admire his sons that much. They have hardly tried to do anything for India or to donate to charities etc. although they have become one of the richest in the world. He is making 27 storied palace sort of building in India's most expensive city Mumbai but he is hardly seen anywhere donating to charity or working for any social causes. And his father was known to take the average Indian along with him. If I admire any businessman the most in India then it has to be undoubtedly Ratan Tata. He is a gem of a person and many of his businesses also involve social causes. Even the ads he shows on TV touch reach issues like the TATA tea ads (the Jaago Re ones). He is bringing Nano for the poor and he is also launching cheap properties for the poor I heard. He is a very good person and he has been active in various social causes. I really admire him rather than anybody else.
when it comes to life and happiness its always about how rich ur deepinside ur heart with your good thoughts instead of these billionaire outlooks.
I never expect that Japan is not even in the lists and Korea as well ...Anyway is this based on what survey anyway? .. I do believed that USA has indeed a lot of Billionaires
