When I read the Qu'ran I cry.

Please don't tell me about how the bible has a lot of bloodshed and such too, I've read most religious texts more than once.

The fact of the matter is, when I read the Qu'ran, especially about the rape of a 9 year old wife of Muhammad, which I know many Muslims consider "the greatest love story of all time" - I cannot help but cry.

I am also pained terribly to read that a man can strike his wife if she wont obey Allah, although I am aware this is supposedly only as a last resort, and not to leave a mark on her.

The truth is the whole book makes me feel violently ill and disgusted - I would be interested to hear the views of others on the topic, particularly the two aforementioned parts.

Who is disgusted? Who thinks that the rape was somehow romantic?

I'm not looking to start fights, I just want to hear what others think.

*For the record I am an Atheist.

Well I think it was actually muhammad that raped a 9 year old, not Allah.
But Allah will provide you with virgins if you kill the infidel.

    BTW, in before imad.

You mean Mohammad pbuh marriage to Aisha, if you truly read the Qur'an, you will know that it is not mentioned there at all, I recommend you to read the Qur'an, and to stop on this verse, and think about it:

the two issues been discussed so many times here, use the search feature and here is a link:

    Sorry, you're right - I've been up for like 30 hours >.<'

Thanks for pointing it out - fixed now.

The whole virgins for killers thing also disturbs me - and that a woman is considered property; property that wont get into Heaven if when she dies her husband is not pleased with her - and even if she does she doesn't get playmates; she gets to continue serving her husband for all of eternity alongside 72 other women.

imad - you are confused about my actual question here. I'm interested in what people feel about it. What do Muslims feel when they think about the rape of a 9 year old? Are they exited? Proud? Deeply ashamed? I'd honestly like to know.

Your links didn't help the feeling side of things; and also I think that despite the fact certain countries with inhabitants who have not yet evolved seeing 9 as an appropriate age to be raped are still screwed up. Just because it was somehow allowed, how does that make it right?

It is also legal to stone women to death in some countries, that doesn't mean it is any less disgusting.

Lastly; your post did not provide any clarity on the wife beating issue - it wasn't my question.

Oh - and if you reread my original post, I have read the Qu'ran quite a few times, different translations. Again, "Allah" rather than "Muhammad" was a typo.

I know it was a typo, and I corrected it for you when I said "You mean Mohammad marriage to Aisha" but whether "Allah" or "Mohammad" this subject is not mentioned in Qur'an, so your confusion came since before you start this thread or read my post, it is why I encouraged you to read Qur'an.

my post was nothing more than a suggestion to use the search feature on these forums to get the info you asked for, which been discussed so many times here, and available in boring details, from which you can grasp and even know directly how do people feel about it, whether they are Muslims or not, I posted two links as a starting point for you, but do not stop there, you need to make an effort to get knowledge.

Actually, Flux corrected me :) You just repeated what he said in a slightly less direct way.

I have no desire to read huge arguments where every single Muslim thread brings the Jews into things - I just want to hear what people feel - that is my interest; nothing more.

Also, kindly don't repeat yourself - I have enough knowledge on the subject along with very clear views - that is not what this thread is for.

To reiterate, my question is how does the Qu'ran, specifically the parts mentioned in the original post, make you feel. - if you don't want to share your feelings that is fine; but please move on to a debate thread rather than this one.

Flux said you meant Mohammad, not Allah, but he also knows nothing about Qur'an else he would tell you that Mohammad marriage to Aisha is not mentioned in Qur'an, as you claimed, and this is the other thing I corrected in your post,

what you read might be something else, but not Qur'an, so I recommend you to read Qur'an first, then check to see if you cried or not, if yes try to know the reason, then come and post about it accurately,

    thanks :)

I knew it wasn't in the quran, just forgot to mention it. I have the quran in audio format, narrated by Gilbert Gottfried.

this topic has been discussed over and over again on this board and explained in detail

but still if( your hatred of Islam urges you and) you want to whine about it than go ahead, as this is all you want to do, to spit away some bad words about Islam and Muslims

like they say. if you spit at the moon, it comes back onto your own face, so keep trying and keep humiliating yourself
    best of luck!

it is very interesting that you are so much interested in an event of 1400 yr ago but can't spare a minute to post something about the self acclaimed gods of today, the obamas , the bush, the zionists, the neocons , who have brought so much death and destruction to the present day world

Australian forces along with the rest of axis of evil are in Afghanistan and iraq spreading their terror, thousands of innocent 9 yo girls have been killed in these wars ,something done by you, something done by your allies!
why don't you also post a thread about them ?
