Can we work for South Aisan Union?

Many people at this forum belong to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and Bangladesh. To make this region strong can we work together? Look at the EU, why not we can work for South Asian Union or like that?

 

There is already an Union(or like that) known as SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation).
How many do we need more???

I think he wants closer economic, political and cultural integration like the EU, eventually leading to a single monetary policy and currency. Well, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were one until 1947, and 1971 in the case of Pakistan and Bangladesh. Who knows, it could happen in the future.

 

I do agree!! But there are many barriers that MUST be removed to make this UNION..... and most imposrtant there is not UNITY among all the countries of South Asia...... A unity like EU....... can make this region strong and strong.. I wish.................

SAFTA - South Asian Free Trade Agreement

We have been hearing about SAFTA for so long but still not sure when is it going to be implemented.

 

EU is not united.. Germany. Italy and france always have differences..
The best thing about EU is Euro..A common currency for all countries(Well Most)... Although INR is accepted in Nepal and Bhutan but there are many differences in South Asia and Europe...

 

Let me tell you that nothing can go right untill and unless people have got prejudice and hatred within themselves.
