I walk into my bank weekly and have never seen a green toolbar on the walls there. I asked the Vice President of Mortgage Lending whether or not high PageRank would help me get a mortgagte loan of $259,000.00 and he asked me what is PageRank Once I explained it to him he said no, it would help me at all. Lastly this is one of my experiment sites to see how well I could rank for a keyword using a crappy site with duplicate content and no links. bulkreos.net # 2 for over a year for the term bulk reos Notice the distinct lack of PageRank Over a year at # 2 with no PageRank Now tell me PR matters!!!!!! It doesn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It may be different for each website, why do I remember the last update date was 23rd June? And there has been nothing changed on our site, either.
PR does matter to some webmasters. I'll shoot you the example of Yahoo Answers. Yahoo has a PageRank of 9 and Yahoo Answers has a PageRank of 8. Have you seen how well actual Yahoo Answers tend to rank with merely a few lines of text and few supporting links? They dominate because of the PageRank of the domain. If you have an uber-authority domain then you will get a shedload of traffic, you'll be crawled all of the time and the value of your site will be sky high. You'll also be able to seal some pretty high profile advertisers on board as well. That's why it's important.
Before April updates i know that gogle update page ranking after 3 months... but after May 09 i read lot of webs that google changed its SERP thats why they updates page rank monthly
Odd how you missed the important issues with the site and what is about. PR obviously means nothing if I can rank the crappiest site ever for a year+ with no PR......... I can't see how anyone can argue with the proof shown..... No I am not making millions from Bulk REOs (the banks selling the REOs make that kind of money) But the Adsenseless clicks are sweet
Do you think Yahoo practises PR building techniques? Because I don't. They rank well, and they've never had to focus on building PR... hmmm... I think that counts against your argument. They have good positions in the SERPS because they're Yahoo, they have lots of followers, and they're well known. Wikipedia is the same. Seems like a waste of time focusing on solely PR when it's only one of over 200 measures for ranking in the SERPS.
Yahoo acquired the PR not by tring to obtain a high score but by all of the sites linking to them and additionally Google has valued the Yahoo Directory as highly as they did DMOZ and after some time even more so. There was not a soul at Yahoo worried about their PR I think its safe to say. One thing people forget is, Yahoo is a portal first and foremost and the largest display ad network. Their search engine was a step child to their true method of earning revenues and why they have never entered in the MSN / Google frey. As for my non competitive keywords, that was not the point whatsoever. It's simply proof that a site does not need PR to rank at the top and that what is seen in the toolbar is simply a green bar,,,,,it is not the reality of any sites current PR. PageRank is updated daily for Google employees..... So that should give everyone a clue to how useless monitoring toolbar PR is.... Get over the fascination and make $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ instead...
Yahoo have a greater market share for search engines than MSN, so I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say the "MSN/Google frey". Source: http://marketshare.hitslink.com/search-engine-market-share.aspx?qprid=4 Relevant as at 23.09.09.
' I am referring to Schmidt and Ballmer going back and forth as to which is the better search engine. Yang never got involved in the tug of words.
Yahoo Search will be powered by Bing. All that "market share" is Microsoft's now. It's a two-horse race "Google V Microsoft" although G at this time pretty much hold a 90%+ global share.
