My first website that is not with cheesy website builder

hey everyone i have made my first website that does not use a website builder like geocitys or webs i started with 1 blank sheet and so far this is what ive come up with http://klarkinphotos.50webs.com/ i would really like to have your guys opinions on how it looks and feels. like is it easy to get around? or to easy to get lost? stuff like that, any input you have is great, good or bad.

 

Nice and simple,
Not a huge fan of black backgrounds and white text. The red links and blue banner conflict a bit.
But a good start! Keep working on it

 

simple and clean...i like it

 

It's pretty nice, but I suggest a touch-up on the grammar. Such as capitalizing the first letter of the new sentences, and the site is nice but needs more content. An "About Me" section is always a must on a personal website.

 

Overall it looks clean but you have to work a little bit more on typography and color match

yeah im guessing you talking about the "links" page? if so im going to work on it tonight because you are very right, now that i look at it, it hurts my eyes a bit lol

Yes i will also fix the grammar tonight and do the best i can and an "About Me" section sounds like a great idea! Ill start working on it ASAP.

haha yes I DO SOLEMNLY SWEAR TO FIX MY GRAMMAR lol

And if anyone has any ideas on colors to use please do tell

 

My suggestion:

- don't use absolute white text on that dark background because the contrast is too high
- also the red from the menu.. I'd suggest something not that strong
- why don't you use something cool for your photo gallery like: devkick.com/lab/galleria/ or you can do something like mine here: cippodesign.com/portfolio
- I like to keep the same structure for all pages. What do you say?

 

Well i really like the devkick.com/lab/galleria/ is it 100% free?
if so ill look into implementing it into the website.

also i think i will dull the colors a bit, but i really have no idea what to do with the BG

 

Ok so just for the main page right now i dulled down the red and made the white a very light shade of grey along with increase the text size a tiny bit.

I think it looks good man. Maybe rather than having the text nav bar on the right there make some buttons in photoshop or something along those lines. And obviously if your going to try and promote it buy a domain. It still looks good man good job.

Also im buying my own domain soon, but am i going to lose all the SEO ive done on this site? will i lose my ranking and things like that?

 

I'm afraid you'll going to loose page rank but you can create a domain forward for this one to send visitors to the new domain that you'll buy.

OK so i use the gallery you showed me for the "plant life" album so check it out and tell me what you think.
On a side note my GF thinks its 5x better with the new gallery.
