it's only worth it if you're running an offline business. It definitely doesn't do you any good for backlinks lol.

no it doesn't. You only get one backlink and you pay for it. what's great about that?

The Search Engines don't like Paid links and they tend to penalize sites selling/buying links.

Nope It dosn`t worth it. You should find some partner sites and make banner exchanges because thats free and you`ll get lots of backlinks. :)

if i had to decide today whether to fork over that kind of money for a yahoo listing i'd be hesitant. (i'd probably spend that money on a good number of other qualititative paid directories like botw, joeant, stpt, aviva, goguides, incrawler etc those that have been around since 2004 or earlier, and some newer ones with good pr) not that i don't think that it's a great backlink because it is - you actually can get a number of links i think on the other yahoo sites, say in india, new zealand, asia, etc. at least my site does, submitted years ago.
one thing about yahoo directory is that it is considered one of the major authoritative sites on the internet so for passing pageTrust it's a big one. and some of the pages have decent page rank as well. i used to get plenty of business from dmoz and yahoo listings but now, it's much much less. if you have $1000 to spend on directories and such, i'd include yahoo in that list.

The only time it is worth it to buy spots on directories are

-When you know the directories have alot of traffic i have seen noobs pay for spots on directories that have less then 50 submited websites.
-Look at the website alexa ranking if it isnt on the top 100k then your wasting your time.
-Request a visitors/pageview graph or chart if they dont give that information out then they might be lying.
-cost if they are charging 100$ for 1 month on a website that gets 100k in page views a month that is fair but if they are charging 10 bucks for a site that might get 1000 visitors a month then your getting ripped off.

just remember this and your could get some good traffic
