My friend's site is banned by Google. I tried to check info:domainname.com and site:domainname.com, there is no result at all. Other search engine (Bing & Yahoo!) doesn't ban it. What should he do to bring it back to be able to appear on Google? Many thanks
Have you tried checking both the www and non-www versions? If the site has really been banned, it happened for a reason. Fix the all the issues and file a reconsideration request. Do not file a request before everything has been fixed, neither it is advisable to file multiple requests.
yeah. It seems tat your site was banned by google. You will come to know the reason if you read google policies.
if I do not know what was going wrong in the past, and let me put this way, he wants to start over, from where he should start?
Although you can fix the banning issue(s) and file a reinclusion request it will probably take months or you will never hear from Google. To be honest, it's usually less frustrating to move the content to a brand new domain.
thanks for this suggestion. btw, do you have any experience something like this before? any success story gaining trust from google? how about moving to subdomain or folder? i heard that subdomain is treated as different site by google. but not folder.
Right, u may think u do nothing wrong and shouldn't be banned and u have all the legitimate reasons to fight back. But for a webmaster, the time cost is the most expensive one, so just give up and try to build a new one! BTW, since Yahoo and Bing didn't ban u, u may want to do a little bit BING seo or so to still drive some traffic to your site??
yeah. thanks for that. i will tell my friend to consider to build new websites. working on yahoo and bing is a good alternative
why you think your friend's site is banned? did your friend do something naughty? e.g setting the same text color as the background, doing some tiny links that is 1 square inch in size. If they are not the case, try to check the robots.txt file, check if your friends accidentally add the meta robots noindex tags, and check your hosting log as well and see if the hosting accidentally block the google's bot IP. It happened to me once. (It is insane I know but it happens.)
The longest Google ban is 1 year and shortest is about 6 months. You should start looking for duplicate content, bad links and virus in your web folder
do you have any resource that Google will ban at most 1 year? Currently the site is set to landing page "Coming Soon". So, I guess there is no external links and duplicate content. Moreover, I think the web hosting also had been changed (moved to another web hosting), so hopefully there is no virus there.
Tell him to stop doing what he was doing then apply for reconsideration. but don't expect a reaction before few months.
You should learn the reason for which your site has been de-indexed and try to solve the problem. After that re-submit site to google.
